Funny how you subtly are calling everyone who saved her 'arrogant' here. I think it's less black and white then thatIndianaChrisN7 wrote...
I kill her. I am not so arrogant as to think I can second guess the decision of the entire galactic community: that they needed to be wiped out.
I saved her. My Shepard is a bit of a goodie twoshoes. Still hoping that being too good will have bad fallout some day. Haven't been like that so far.
When saving a potential threat instead of killing them, someone else seems to kill them for you, and the result is the same. (Miranda Loyalty)

I just beat ME2 a few days ago and after certain events there it got me thinking, like who decided to spare the Rachni Queen and who didn't and why they made that decision. For me on both recent playthroughs in ME1 I've spared the Queen, wasn't trying for the Paragon points. It just felt wrong to wipe her out like that, to my Shep it seemed that this wasn't one of the genocidal Rachni so killing her woujld accomplish nothing. That decision was made w/o any knowledge of ME 2 as well since i replayed ME to get my Shep's choices into ME2.
I like to play good. I just cannot be evil. I wanted the Paragon points but I did it primarily because I thought it was wrong to kill a trapped sapient creature...the last of her kind.

she's my bro. no wait, scratch that - she's my sis.
also the rachni were just ASSUMED to be hostile by nature. the encounter on illium just proved how they have a pretty awesome culture.
