I like others believed you need to be nobal in order to keep Alistair if you have a romance going with him. This isn't true however. Regardless of your toon's past if Alistair becomes King he will dump the Warden with the claim that he needs a child to take over since his life will be so "short" as well as the Warden he's in love with. You can become a fling of his if you go the right conversation way but he won't get married to you regardless.
So I asked myself and did some digging as to how then to keep him in my toons life since she loves him so much. Well first off besides having to be female it doesn't matter who you started off as, Human noble, human/elf mage...and so on. What must be done is this *spoiler* support Anora the Queen rather then Alister. you have to kill Logain or Alistair will leave regardless of what transpires after. Keep Alistair happy, don't ever poke fun at him or call him stupid, give him gifts and talk nicely until he gives the rose, then after its fairly easy to boost him to 100% in love and thus have him love your toon. Always remember regarding Alistair being king that he doesn't want to be king, if you force this issue and make him king he'll be pissy and yes like I said he will dump you regardless of what you say to him after. So unless you just wanna be a side fling with him and nothing more then a **** you have to assure that Alistair will not be king in the end.
To keep the happy pair alive through the end you HAVE to take the "deal" given to you so that Alistair will sleep with Morrigan. If you do not convince Alistair to sleep with her one of the two Wardens HAS to die in the end. And Alistair will not let the love of his life die so he takes the fall for her regardless of what is sad in those final moments. So it is either Sex with Morrigan or the death of one of the two Wardens. ****ty no? However, since you'll be the one talking Alistair into having sex with her it isn't cheating...you'll just have to live with Morrigan having Alistars baby, this is the better outcome in the end for you still get to live happy ever after with Alistair, Morrigan is gone at least for now and life goes on.
If you skip the romance in the game you lose out on half the story, the driving force of the game. There is little choice in the matter of choice for lovers in the game for both genders. If you pick female however you have Alistair or Zev...unless the toon is gay then theres another option. But I digress, Alistair is a sweet, romantic man who will make your female toon very, very happy. So stoke his ego, let him decide his fait and don't foce the king issue at all and your toon will live happy ever after.

Romance between him and your female toon is simple enough, although I think it would be between any of the toons.
First off to anyone wondering, no you do not have to be NOBLE to keep Alistair and live happy ever after, actually I found it really didn't make a difference. Any path you go down it ends fairly well the same. Mind you this is if you can get him to 100 on the romance side of things. Anything lower and I really don't know what happens. However, after you have him in your life, love him and have sex with him theres a few things to know.
The thing is Alistair really doesn't want to be King, if he ends up king in the end he will end the relationship with the Warden female regardless of how much they love eachother, even if she's Noble, because he will need a son to take over when he dies in 30 years like the female warden will. He dumps her because he will not cause the child to have to suffer through the toxic blight crap in the female warden and thus the childs life would prob be real short. So if he's king he'll dump ya, best ya can get is his "fling" on the side being his little mistress but not his wife. (at least this is what I have exp).
I have heard however the rumor that if you talk a ways into him he'll change his mind after if Morrigan is pregnant..and does the "deal" thing. However, I didn't go this way and don't think I will after all Alistair really doesn't want to be king and making him take the throne is forcing upon him what he really doesn't want. He wants to be a Warden, he will not be happy regardless if he is forced to be king.
So be whatever you want to be, so long as you're a chick. To keep Alistair out of being king side with the former Queen and all will end happily ever after.
