Wonder if this patch will be out with the DLC. Heck maybe you have to get the DLC to get the patch! Think of all the money they could make.

Hahaha, that won't happen. If it would ever happen, that'd be the end of the line for me.

I'm still pissed off there are traces of DLC that I don't have activated in my game (Levi Driden at camp, Merchant map destination for Shale, and probably something for Ostagar soon)... I prefer to play without DLC because the original was balanced with whatever things were in the game originally. Shale is too power NPC, his crystals takes up precious inventory space... And the online verification for DLC is BS too because I will want to play my game on laptop during travels and internet connection is not always available.

I guess I'm not a good customer since I don't want DLC ! I prefer expension packs that I can buy on a physical disk.

From a marketing standpoint DLC is great. . heck they made over 1 mill in the first month off of some DLC. I personally would rather see an expansion that increaced the breadth of the game.

Take wardens keep for instance...great idea..bad execution. They could have easily had the warden take over the keep as their base of opperation. Had the player build up fortifications and had the location be intriqual to an aspect of the game...say the keeps location holds a secret! a Archdemon from the Tevinter Imperium is held underneith! the darkspawn learn of this and try to take the keep...if they succeed then things get really tough in the end game..

*shrugs* Or an expansion that takes the game in a diffrent direction..or is only played after you win..DLC for me seems like were spending good money for little real return game wise..

What i mean by little return is this...they put out an expansion for NWN called hords of the underdark. I paid 20-30 bucks for it and got a heck of alot more game from it than all their DLC's combined.

If you are having issues with slowdown/bad loading all that nonsense on any video resos and have AMD quad be sure to check out the post in tech forums for the fix. This was the issue for me. I was running windowed at the lowest graphics possible and it still always lagged after about 15-20 mins to the point of being unplayable. Since the fix, i ran this game for 6 hours straight yesterday at completely maxxed resolution and graphics with absolutely no slowdown at all.

It is an entirely different gaming experience to say the least, i recommend anyone having these issues to at least check it out.

Where in the tech forums is this?

Anyway; If it is the disable parts of the CPU I dont think I wil do it. Will not risk my PC for a broken game.

Hope there will be more news on the patch this week as they said. I have never played a game even close to be as buggy as Dragon Age, and that is quite an achievement:(

this is where you will find the cpu fix I was referring to in my earlier post, none of this cpu affinity crap, this works IF your comp falls under the specs listed in the links in the post. I personally found the first link the easiest to follow

Keep the great feedback coming folks - and if you do have any issues please make sure you check out the platform specific tech support forum, there are a lot of fixes or workarounds already available until we can get that into a formal patch.

Speaking of which I'm very happy to say that patch 1.02 is all but wrapped up! We hope to get that out to you early next week, possibly Monday, barring any last minute hick-ups.

As always, we'll make that available here on social (as well as other sites) and include the full fix notes. 1.02 addresses a lot of issues including Balancing and general Gameplay (such as the Daggers Dex issue), Plot related issues (such as folks losing their DLC items after Dwarf Noble), as well as bringing to PC some of the fixes found & made during console development after PC was locked.

As mentioned before, as part of the process there were also some issues that were pulled from 1.02 for a variety of reasons and moved to 1.03 so as not to hold up this patch. That work is now underway as well - please keep letting us know on the tech forum of anything else you are encountering.

For consoles, work is underway for the first title update (patch) which we hope amongst other things, to address the 360 achievements bug for those early DLC players on that platform.

Have a great weekend folks.

Fernando, thanks so much for this update! I'm hoping some balance work went into two-handed wielding. I'm waiting for this patch before beginning my second playthrough. Dragon Age ranks among the few games I actually find more enjoyable (in a different way) after finishing the first time. Few other developers can claim to have that effect on me with their games.

By the way Fernando, please check out the multi-page campaign bugs list in the campaign forum for a list of issues to fix for upcoming patches.

Pretty excited for this!
But I have my doubts, didn't you say it was gonna come out early THIS week in one of your posts last week?

Perhaps I am just impatient.

Wasn't the patch supposed to come out two weeks ago? The week before this week? Thanksgiving week? They did say that was somewhat of a stretch.

Any chance of seeing a fix to the friendly AI that tells your companions to not target a mob that's surrounded by a Force Field? :) Or would a mod be better for that? I was going to check out the Toolset to see if I could make a mod that would solve that problem - it might be relatively easy - but I'm too busy playing! (Have already played three full play throughs and am halfway through two others - that's not counting the one I started with my Dalish elf, but stopped when I arrived at Ostagar because of the dex issue)

Edit : I was thinking that the Force Field issue might be resolved by adding two new factions (if necessary, or even possible), so to speak, one for baddies and one for the player's side. When the player's side casts a force field, a faction flag could be added to the bad guy in the Force Field so that the player's companions see it as neutral and no longer target it, but the bad guy AI could still remove the force field, if they had the ability (Cleansing Aura, Dispel Magic, etc), since the baddie in the Force Field would still be a friendly faction to them.  The same would happen on the other side - if a player or friendly NPC gets trapped in a Force Field, the friendly flag would be added so the bad guys no longer attack that force fielded player, but a friendly AI tactic could automatically attempt to remove that Force Field.

Might work?

I mention it because it was pretty sad, for example, playing in some of the back alleys in Denerim, being overwhelmed by numbers, using Force Field on the enemy boss, only to have more than half of the NPCs that are friendly to you be so focused on attacking the boss that they haven't figured out it's in a Force Field, and meanwhile they are taking damage from all the other guys surrounding them, and you end up losing to attrition anyway - kind of defeats the purpose of crowd control, yes? (Maybe I should be posting that part somewhere else?)

Thanks, but I have another CPU. AMD Phenom 8600 tripplecore. And I am not sure if it is very smart to diable that patch anyway..?

My PC can play other more demanding games smooth, and I read that people with totally different CPU's like Intel also has the problem. I hope Bioware will look into this. To the Bioware mod above; can I hope for this in patch 1.02?

Again; the problem is that the game runs smooth in about 15 minuttes. After that it laggs more and more, and the loadingscreens takes about 5 minuttes. If I exit to the main menu everything is smooth again, but its not fun to do that every 15 munuttes.

Ok, sorry.

Anyway; this is the best singleplayer RPG I have ever played. It is also a very exiting story and world, so I am relly looking forward to learn more about it in future expansions, games and/or other media.

Impressed with how it plays on the PS3 too. Works very well when used to it.

Hey Fernando, thanks for the updates. Just wanted to chime in here as a PS3 and PC DA:O player ( yes I couldn't wait to get the PC version I pre-ordered, another story ) that I've had a good experience with both platforms and no major technical issues. Great work.

I have been fortunate enough to have zero issues with any aspect of the game, knock on wood. But its always nice to hear from the Devs that you guys still care. Lovin' every aspect of the game so far from the visuals to the musical score. Thanks a lot Bioware, and I wish you continued success with Dragon Age for years to come!

The game froze on me just one time, but didn't have any other problems other than that.

If there are ever any software updates to the game to fix any of the problems people have been having, then I'd also like to see a tactic that lets a rogue disable any traps he/she sees AUTOMATICALLY rather than having to take manual control of that character and do it myself(assuming that their stats are high enough to see/disable it).

I'm still interested to hear what is likable about this game? Besides the storyline... The storyline is excellent! But the gameplay is horrible!

I'll assume you've never played Baldur's Gate games? This isn't your typical FPS shooter or aRPG.

That is indeed amazing news.....thank you for not forgetting us. One question though.....are you also addressing the Dwarven origin item loss for the consoles or is that only being addressed on the PC?

Awesome Fernando, praying to the patch gods that the patch will be ready tomorrow or in the next couple days! As a PC gamer, it is always nice to get a new patch and check out all the fixes. Keep up the good work.

It's great to hear from the people at Bioware but, I must ask! I have played through and recieved just about every single trophy on this game on the PS3 and I wanted to know.

Does Bioware planning on a sequel for this game? DA:O was an amazing adventure and I loved the characters. I would love to see the possible adventures of the Grey Wardens anew against the Darkspawn and how the friends of before might reunite.

Even add some new potential romances or something of the sort. I was impressed by this game more so than any game I've ever played before. Bioware got me addicted-hook, line, and sinker!

Considering how sucessfull its been i would say yes they do. On the the otherhand its taken them how many years from never winter nights to make a new RPG like this?..Most likely we will see a slew of DLC and eventually ayear or a two later an expansion that acts like a prequel or epilogue that uses the same universe/setting to tell a story.

I would say we will end up seeing perhapse two to three expansions and then a three to four year wait for another new game..

just a guess though..

If they make a sequel it would likely use just a modified engine, and the whole lore and whatnot is already done, so it's a lot less work. The first game in a series always takes the longest.

Any chance the corrupted saves issue on the XBOX 360 console will be addressed this week? Hopefully you aren't planning to move this to 1.03 as it flat out stops game play...as in we can't play it any more with characters we've invested over 60+ hours in.
