I can't find the proper words to express myself in regards to this game, it was a surreal experience, something I haven't thought I'd experience in my years as a gamer - it was THE ultimate gaming experience, no doubt about that. It was a cinematic experience so profound that I simply cannot express all my thoughts in this post. You get to experience such a vast variety of feelings (e.g. love, betrayal, hatred, compassion) that you truly feel what your ingame character feels, you live his life and adventures. The game actually makes you weigh every decision considering a possible outcome, and I actually got to experience feelings so profound which I thought impossible in a game, even an rpg. I can't go into anymore specifics regarding this without throwing in a few spoilers so I'll leave it at that, anyone who finished the game knows what I'm talking about. The combat system is of course once again brilliant Bioware, it is truly flawless. There is an epic feeling behind every single battle, and there are tons of challenges for both veteran and new players alike.
All in all, I'd like to thank and congratulate Bioware for once again creating an amazing game that truly is worthy of their heritage, you have truly outdone yourselves yet again; Dragon Age: Origins will surely be a cornerstone for the rpg universe many years from now. Thank you Bioware!

Now I have been playing computer games since I was in my teens on the ZX spectrum, so was playing comp games when most of you reading this where just twinkles in your dad's eyes.
I'm only half way through the game at the moment but I can honestly say this is the best game by far I have ever played!
The game from the box unpatched (I had no Internet access until today) is the most bug free, and playable I have seen for years.
Well done BioWare!
I will with out a doubt be buying your online Star Wars TOR so make sure you have enough servers for me and all my mates

The MAJOR issue that you have not addressed nor admitted was the HUGE failure of the 1.01a patch you rolled out.
The majority not the minority that were either, 1. close to finishing the game or 2. very far along having completed both premium content locations lost both premium content, (meaning no longer on the world map) and lost items equipped or stored at Warden's Keep.
Why this hasn't been addressed nor quickly fixed yet is giving Bioware a very bad rap at the moment.
One hint: Bioware just might want to look into it since many players have shelved the game including me.
A bad patch that was clearly never tested before released that caused that much damage can have irreversible effects.

U should never have to pay for extra content in an rpg unless it is years later! Why should u have to pay for extra content on an rpg days after it is released? What a ripoff!!!
has it ever occurred to you that EA could have been behind this scheme? bioware has always released DLC's/Expansions after a long period. you could look back at the games that bioware has released and then come back here and try repeating what you said... every one knows that EA and Activision/blizzard are money hungry companies, and guess what, i don't blame them! why you ask? tell me what company doesn't want to make money.. c'mon, i dare you..
Not to paint a bad picture, but what makes BioWare any different from those other companies?

This game has set the RPG tone for today's RPG gamer the same way Baldur's Gate 2 for PC did it in 2000.

I just wish we could have some MMO elements here and there (perhaps that could be a good idea for future expansion...like some coop dungeons, or pvp maps)...
And the toolset is pure awsomness !!
Thanks BIOWARE, you just release one of the best game of all time...

Launch believe it or not was one of the best, for the majority no problems. Only a few had problems and that is only related to their computers not the game.
Not true at all - if you'd read the OP or some of the posts about issues like DLC codes that people like myself had / are still having then you'd know this.

Yes, I'm still at patch level 1.00 (I'm not yet prepared to risk losing the DLC when I patch to 1.01) and it did take me a bit of time to get the toolset to work on my XP SP2 system, but it all works. But I'm sure that, at most in a couple of weeks time, those issues, and all other currently known (and as yet unsolved) issues, will find their way to a solution as well.
All in all, I sincerely want to thank Bioware for the great game!

if all goes well, ten years from now we'll be playing this game and talking about the replayability a la baldur's gate 1&2.

Great game so far. I'm heavily addicted to the single player game. Rolled DW Zerker/Reaver. However, although I say I'm addicted I find myself questioning why I "actually" play it. Once I complete the game it feels as though it was all for naught.
Do you feel the same after reading a good book?

Touche, but I don't buy a $50 book so that I can be interactive and play the character in the book. I wouldn't neccesarily say that I read a book to aquire "in-book" items and achievments either. Like I said, my opinion is heavily biased on being an MMORPG player.

Best single player campaign game Ive had the pleasure of playing since BG2, and likely exceeding even that wonderful piece of artwork.
I just hope you guys stay on top of the Bioware official DLC's and hope you guys have something intresting comming soon.
On another note, Ive talked to alot of my freinds about trying DAO. The general census they have come up with to not playing it, is no multiplayer capability. Of course i dont mind so much myself, and love the game either way. But as a online gaming community, that play games just to play with eachother, its hard to sell a single player only game.
Mabe think about adding a 2-4 player coperative mode in the future? Player base would likely skyrocket.
Basically, what he said ^

While I have no doubt been sucked into the MMORPG world of other human players, item chasing, achievements, and showing off, I'm not sure how the main selling points of DA would translate to multiplayer, where online play is facilitated usually at the cost of storytelling, meaningful choice-plot relationships, concrete plot progression, and quite possibly the beauty of the combat itself.
There's a good chance I wouldn't be playing this game if not for the pause-based battle system. Real-time certainly has its place, but to me the best RPGs link rich, complex character creation and customization with rich, complex combat. Pause-based is a lot like V.A.T.S., except that instead of making combat stupid-easy, it's the difference between flourishing and repeatedly sustaining injuries.
Even cooperative mode would have significant repercussions on the progression and tone of the game. When quests are infinitely replayable, they lose their intensity. In fact, the things that usually make multiplayer fun/feasible often drain the qualities that serve the experience as a whole--meaning you're highly aware that you're playing a game, and only half-convinced at best that you're in another world. It's evident that BioWare put an inordinate amount of effort into making this a living, breathing, convincing, harrowing world. Indeed, it's what I paid $45 for.

I think Dragon Age is geared towards the gamer who yearns for the traditional single-player RPG experience.

Well said, and I agree.
Maybe they could put out dlc of a multiplayer zone. You keep your character and everything, but you are able to have friends come along for the ride, or if you prefer you can go in by yourself with your team and pause-play. I don't really know how they would work out the details and what-not, which might also be why i play the awesome games not make them. ; ] idk, just throwing an idea out there.
