Everyone has probably seen some anime by now. Hell, I'm estimating more than 8 out of 10 gamers has watched enough anime to fill a month. Big eyes, even faces. Alot of people like anime. However, this is what I'm wondering; will using the anime styles and techniques to design characters within Dragon Age: Origins make your characters look good, or stand out?

I've noticed myself that my big-eyed mage tends to have bulging eyes every time she tries to look serious. Posted Image How are your experiences? Please post any pictures to illustrate what effects you do not like. I wish I had one myself with the bulging eyes, but, I can't find the screenshot anymore.

I didn't change the eyes at all on my elf mage. Only problem I had with appearance was at the beginning before the harrowing he looks like he just ripped some ganj!

Stand out unless it's done properly.

No offense to those who use certain mods, but anime styled characters or ones with non-natural hair colours stick out like a sore thumb that's been hammered repeatedly.

I've found it very hard to find a mod with decent hair that doesn't look silly (More Hairstyles on Dragon Age Nexus has some nice ones in it), and I've had the same problem with Oblivion and Fallout 3 in the past.

From what I remember, I used the highest eye size setting for Serdira and it doesn't look too bad.

Yeah, my human male feels like he is sticking out a bit with his gigantic eyes. I mean, it looks the most normal. but when everyone else has such small eyes they stand out

oi, i've created about 8 failed characters so far. i'm debating giving up

All my female characters have maxed eye size. (I don't watch anime, it just makes them look more attractive.)

It's all about choosing the right eye shape so it doesn't look odd in-game.

Using the squinting feature in the toolset helps big eyes look more natural.

I recently created a character in DA with the largest eyes possible, I rather like it:

Bigger is not better. They are already too big in the original designs.

It depends alot on the shape you choose. I personally loke a delicate face and large eyes for mine, as thats what my family has in real life. It's a nice way to get a little resemblance to your character. But it can be overdone. They eyes can only be so large anyhow, it's more the big poofy anime style hair that looks wonky to me. But it's really all about personal preference. My characters are in my signature if you're curious.

Yeah, I'm an anime girl, but I tried to make my DA characters look rather realistic. At the other hand my Fem!Shepard looks totaly manga-like.

I love big eyes, I think they are a mirror to the soul and even in real life I always use make-up to make my eyes look as big as possible.

For me its all about eyes and mouth. :D

If anything the eyes need to be smaller. As it stands now they make the characters look a lot more ditsy and disproportional.

With me I guess I spend the most time tweaking the cheeks and jaw, as this is how you really give a face it's own shape. Eye size is very important too and I tend to give my female characters slightly larger eyes, but my males slightly smaller. The height of the brow can make a big difference to the appearance of your character. My personal rule is lower brow for males, higher for females.

If eyes are to small its realy hard to realy see the color of the eyes.

This is so true. The hard part is find the right shape, so the larger eyes don't look ditzy and constantly shocked.

^ If you're using the toolset, you can adjust the 'eyes squint' feature to avoid that problem :)

I'm not, I'm using the character creator, the toolset makes my eyes cross in real life...lol

I used the toolset for the 1st time this weekend. Yes it takes a little longer, but it's really not that bad at all. Everything made sense.

However, I did find out that what looked ok in the Toolset, looked wonky in the CC and in-game. What I did was made my saved morph a preset, and then imported and adjusted it in the CC with its more revealing lighting and less zoom-distortion.

Usually the toolset is pretty accurate. But it distorts the designs when you make them into presets...the nose especially gets affected.
