Think of it! Its perfectly suited to a combat style and overall feel of Thane or Kasumi for instance. (Prays Kasumi will be confirmed)

I just think ti would be cool to see someone like Thane or Thane himself dual wield pistols like in the cinematic trailer when Thane shoots those two guards contemporarily.

Thoughts?

Let me rephrase my "no" to a "Meh."  Maybe it was too terse.

No one else can dual wield and I find Thane more interesting as an assassin without what I think is a gimicky affectation.

Really? Dual pistols? What possible use outside of hollywood does that have?

Nope. Mainly because of the way the characters move/aim with their guns. It would look kinda janky.

But who knows, they might wipe the slate clean with ME3 and totally make the animations different, I can't see the devs doing that though.

Or two 50. Cali machine guns and shooting without losing balance or blasting your own arms away due the sheer power and pressure.

Dual wielding pistols is like a sub-machine gun. Spray and hope you hit something. I do like the idea of dual wielding pistols though :)

Actually dual wielding suits almost no combat style ever. Especially not with guns the loss of accuracy just couldn't be justified by the amount of rounds you throw down range. And assassins are supposed to be methodical going in guns a blazing missing almost everythinig in sight just doesn't fit the profile :P

No.

The only people you see weilding dual guns in 'real life', are gang members and idiots who play to many video games (wait....err...uhm...). I like the fact that the game is reletively realistic in that matter.

As a matter of fact I also like the fact that they use both hands to hold and fire there gun, which is what anyone who actually knows how to fire a firearm properly will tell you to do.

If you have a spare hand then use a bloody rifle or shotgun.

Using two guns really only works in situations where you dont have to aim. Meaning that in about 90% of gun fights it is worse than useless.

Dead on.  As a person with firearms training it surprises me to this day the number of idiots hurt doing stupid, hollywood/game inspired antics.  Nobody who has even had the slightest training would dual pistol anybody.  Actually, nobody with training would use a firearm "to spray bullets and hope to hit something" unless they were truly desperate.  Bullets are a finite resource in combat situations... even LMG's are burst fired mostly, not just emptied at anything that moves.

Personal fav is people using pistols sideways like in movies, and burning themselves with ejected casings.  They should be spayed like dogs to prevent thier corruption of the gene pool.

Great example... I wonder how many rounds he'd have taken in the chest while attempting that outstanding display of marksmanship.

Simple thought process.

Military trained people do what works.

Do we see them using two pistols or submachine guns?

No.

They use rifles or machine guns

The pistol is a side arm

Deal with it.

I have to agree with the people saying no for the reasons they have already said. Also, it's nice to finally have a game where you are not expected to dual wield for once, it's become too tired and cliche since everybody does it nowadays.

Good question, I wish I knew. That said, there are some games where I would want dual wielding, Max Payne for one, Mass Effect Franchise is not really a game where I want dual wielding.

I do like having a shotgun, you know for close encounters.

Yes I use shotguns as well...

For close encounters of the...Krogan kind.
(I'm sorry I could not help it, had to make that referance.)

I am a vanguard myself.

I have no illusions though, my perpetual shotgun charge would get me killed real quick in real life.

I think if it were just one squad mate that would be cool.
