Dual pistols don't have practical use ever. You're using up ammo twice as fast, not as accurate, and also in context of mass effect, don't have a free hand to use your power. Not only that, but how hard would it be to reload?

That sort of stuff would make sense for gangsters and thuggish-like merc groups ... or maybe even Batarians or Vorcha. Even an Earthborn Shepard dual-wielding could make some sense of it (since Earthborns were raised in the streets).
Personally, I prefer Shotguns myself. :>

I would have to say no, I think it was bad enough that bungie did this with Halo 2 and 3, and IW followed suite with MW2. as many have said outside of hollywood it is not an accurate or accepted method of using firearms, excpet by gangers, and thugs who think it makes them look cool but cannot hit the broadside of a barn with both barrels pressed against the side.

No.
Being in the SAF (Singapore Armed Forces, forced conscription, not fun) and having fired guns at ranges (Rifles and pistols), I can safely say dual-wielding guns of any kind is completely impractical, and not easy, unless you're a trained ambidextrous firer (and even then, it's still a Hollywood thing, as no one really does this and succeeds in hitting their targets).
Stationary targets are one thing, but say you were in the combat zone. How likely are you to stand straight and fire your guns like that? Cover is key in combat (we're taught to try and maintain a head and rifle only profile, as much as possible), and using weapons like this is the quickest way to get yourself shot.
Do I like watching it in movies/shows/anime? Yes
Do I like it in games? If it fits the mood (Max Payne, etc).
Do I think it's a good idea in Mass Effect? Nope. Wouldn't make sense.

Let's take this into a little perspective: Kotor, where everyone is ambidextrous and can dual weild to their heart's content!

Duel wielding is not effective anywere outside of a John woo movie , you cant aim if you cant look down the iron sight of a gun , you also would take alot longer to reload.

Legion could likely pull it off by interfacing with cameras installed on the pistols.

Dual or Quad-wielding hanar squadmate?
Dual-wielding/akimbo style is Hollywood and same with holding a pistol sideways. Mass Effect tries to be 'realistic' so can't really see dual-wielding in ME3.

yea though i wonder why the always showed thane with one or two pistols in railers and he dont even us eon in gameRinpocheSchnozberry wrote...
Let me rephrase my "no" to a "Meh." Maybe it was too terse.
No one else can dual wield and I find Thane more interesting as an assassin without what I think is a gimicky affectation.
would rather have them spending time making squadmates act more different, thane acting/fighting more like in
the trailer for example, would be nice

Proficiently dual wielding firearms does happen, but it's extremely rare, even with special ops and the likes. And with extremely rare, we are talking about less than one in a thousand.
The rare occasionas where dual wielding fire arms is used in these cases, it's usually with mini sub machine guns.
But ambidextrous gunman in special ops are generally given bigger firearms, with tailored weapons to be used from either hand, since their strength lays actually with being able to aim their weapon from either hand (try shooting a gun around a right hand corner if you're right handed without exposing your entire body!), allowing them more control over a situation. Dual wielding small fire arms is meant for targetting two low armoured targets at once, which is a situation and a necessity special ops try to prevent and circumvent for a variety of reasons, through training and teamwork.

NO, just no. We don't need that Hollywood gimmick in ME. Shooting with two hands and eyes down the sight is accurate and deadly. Dual wielding is going to get you killed. Realism in the ME games has been great so far (for a space opera). I would hate to see them implement that.

I think i would be cool, have another NPC squadmate that specializes in small arms and can actually do that effectively
But i doubt it will be implemented

The only NPC in the mass effect universe that I can see doing this is Conrad Verner.

No. Such a superficial concept is meaningless. You might as well ask for a character who holds a pistol sideways like a "gangsta." The detrimental effect on aim would be comparable.

Reasons you might want to wield two guns:
supressive fire. You aren't actually aiming at something, just tring to throw down as much lead in the air as possible.
Raw damage on a large target. In real human confilcts, generally humans shoot at each other with basic firearms. Bit in ME, many targets are so large you only need to point in their general direction to hit them. This would allow you to do greater damage in a shorter amount of time, esepcailly since they have better tech to control recoil effects in the ME universe. You could be as accurate with two pistols as you could with a shotgun.
Generally, of course, two guns is a gimick. And as someone who is actually ambidextrous, we are not "handed" at all. We don't have dominant hand, so we may be just as good with either of our hands, but either of our hands will be inferior to a left/right handed person for shear coordination.

Couldn't you just use one gun, then switch to the other, shortening reload times? People use two guns all the time. Consistently using them both at the same time is so goddam stupid.

How about instead of that....a character who wields no guns but is all biotic. So he/she can only use biotic powers perhaps some of them with faster recharge times but essentially unarmed. I think it would be pretty cool to cycle a character through many different biotic powers in combat than just one or two and some shooting. Any thoughts to that?

Like Thane in the colony trailer? That would be like squadmates being able to use AR's during gameplay like they do in cutscenes when during gameplay they cant select AR's.
