ok-
this is ridiculous,
mass effect 2 does not have this problem- bioware apparantly realized thier error but did not fix it.
simply do away with the damn "verification" code for the dlc items that seems to be causing the problem.
you can't play online because of marketplace or bioware server issues and the game prevents you from loading a save with any such dlc items that need to be verified.
fine- so if bioware/ea servers go down- then our data doesn't get uploaded to our profiles for an extra 24 hours, who gives a crap (and if you do, its minor), but to be restricted from playing offline because of thier silly verification process that stopped what?
an extreme minority of people from grabbing a few pre-order items? utter stupidity to ****** off the majority of dao players (im sure ps3 has similar problems) just to solve a relatively minor problem.
what now? how do we approach this crap and get it "patched" or fixed.
we need to do something about this "connecting to servers" crap. and dlc issues.

I don't even get a menu now if I'm connected to Live, and if I physically disconnect, it won't load my save becuase of my "Bonus Items!" WTF!
I'm the biggest Bioware fan out there, but not being able to play my game, my single-player game, without the EA servers is outragous. I get the need for all this crap on the PC, its also why I don't play PC game anymore. But it is totally unnecssary for the consoles! I bought the CE for both DOA and ME2, planning to have and hold them forever (I usually trade games in/out constantly). But does this mean that whenever EA decides to stop supporting these games' servers, I'm SOL?

What the heck is going on? Have they explained why we are not connecting? This is so frustrating. You are absolutely right Hammerdrake, you shouldn't be prevented from playing a game you paid good money for simply because their servers are down. I love this game but the lack of customer service/response is driving me nuts.

You and me both. I had specifically put $40 away to get Awakening, No romance, no DLC, whatever I was still gonna get it because I can play without that stuff. Now I see that I cant even play the damn game I have now unless everything is just right.
Screw this, looks like that money will be going to FF XIII or I'll finally pickup Fallout 3 GOTY. I play these games to get away from stress not to bring on more.

No menu. No known outage release. You would think they were the cable company. I am a huge Bioware fan and buy and gift their games. But this also gives me pause about future purchases.

When the servers are back up, the following discussion thread may help you with the bonus item issue:
