I have completed all missions, all planets 100%, have loyalty with everyone except Jack, all characters recruited
And im still only level 22
The reason I say only level 22 is because people are saying its possible to get to level 30 on a first playthrough

Anyone got to level 30 on just mass effect 2 ??
So im curious as to what i have missed now and I have gone over everything to check whats left and all i have left is the iff mission and suicide mission after according to my records.

I would appreciate any info about this guys/gals

Ehh, I got to 29 right at the end, using an ME1 savegame and I did absolutely everything as far as I could tell.



Do you have all of the DLC? Zaeed's mission might give a good chunk. Also, have you explored all of the planets and investigated ones where EDI says "Anomoly detected"?

Have you bought the Star Charts on Illium yet? They give you 4 additional clusters.

I haven't completed Mass Effect 2 with a completely new character, so I can't tell you if it is possible to reach level 30.

Using an ME1 import game (level 48) which let me start the game at Level 3, I reached level 30 on a single playthrough with my Infiltrator, with all planets explored and all sidequests completed.

It's impossible. The only way to get to level 30 on your first playthrough is to import a level 60 character.

I did everything, and imported a character (so, started on level 3), but ended up around level 26 or 27. Will need a second play, or some DLC to get to level 30 first time around.

Using imported character it's easy to reach level 30 before the final mission.

If you import a lvl 60 ME1 save you'll get to lvl 30 right before the final boss

If you don't import, then you can't get to lvl 30 in one playthrough, you have to do NG+

After you beat it one time with an imported character, or twice with any two characters, you get the long service achievement, which grants additional xp (10 or 25%) so a new playthrough with a completely new character can reach 30 fairly easily.

Sorry, but no you didn't - It's impossible.  There aren't enough XP points and exploring planets has nothing to do with it.

It takes two playthroughs if you don't import anything. If you import a level 40+ you can get level 30, but you need to do every side mission. If you import level 60, you will be level 30 long before the end.

I have. But I brought over a level 60 character from Mass Effect 1 so I started on level 5. I didn't achieve level 30 until the very end though (the last boss) but I was definitely higher then level 22 when I started it. Have you visited the DLC areas (Zaeed and the Normandy Crash site), did you bring over a level 60 Mass Effect character and did you buy the star charts on Illium?

Yeh, you can only reach level 30 at the final battle (possibly slightly before - a few of my missions were bugged) if you imported a level 60.

The reason I cant import my save over is because i decided rather than buy ME 2 for x box 360 as I did for the first game, I wanted it on pc as I thought the game would be more enjoyable with mouse and keyboard.

I have explored all the planets, have recently had zaeed and completed his mission and I have all characters and gained their loyalty except for Jack

I have just checked again everything i have completed, and there is 1 mission left which I completely forgot i had left to do which is the Normandy crash level, but can this give me sufficient xp etc to get much higher than the level i am currently on?

I dont want to just go ahead to end level and not give myself the best possible chance to survive, that really would be suicide right??

No, you won't be able to reach 30. Anyway, your chances on Survival during the suicide mission are based on completely upgrading the Normandy, the Loyalty of your team and putting the right people in the right jobs come the time - Level is irrelevant.

If this is your first playthrough, which I assume it is) then you'll get 10 Experience from each of the Dog tags. This'll give you 200 Experience from collecting the Dog Tags (I can't remember if you get more from planting the statue though). You won't, however, have enough to make it to level 30 by the end of the game. Nothing in the Suicide Mission changes based on your level though (with regards to characters dieing) so if that is your concern then don't worry about it and just go ahead and finish the game after you do the crash site (I'm also assuming you did Jack's mission but then sided with Miranda, if you didn't do her mission at all though then do that aswell for an extra experience boost and because her mission is quite good). Just make sure you've upgraded everything before you do.

Yeah I reached level 30 during the final mission of my first playthrough but since I now have the Long Service Medal achievement all my new characters get +25% experience so now I can get to 30 without even doing side quests....just the loyalty missions and the core story will usually get me to 30 long before the game's end.

without importing I guess the max level is 24~25

(not counting the 25% bonus, of course)

I imported a L50, and was L28 after final battle in ME2 having done all missions and assignments.



I'd say obie191970 is right. The others must already have the extra 25% exp bonus when they imported, that is it was not their very first playthrough of ME2.

Just wait for a DLC or two, and lvl 30 on the first playthrough might just be possible, given you get the proper paragon/renegade course.

Thanks to all of you for your time in replying, I thought the end mission would depend not only on your upgrades but your character level and that worried me about going to end level with no chance.

I just looked again at my achivements and missions etc and I have to say I missed the fact initially that i havent done the crashed normandy level yet.

New playthrough, no import, all assignments, all loyalty missions, all dlc, I only reached level 26. Had 875 xp to go for level 27.
