Yeah basically when you export things or compile scripts etc quite often (depending on your setup and what you are doing) it will export the single player content as well which easily breaks things. So you just need to clear out those two folders before you run the game and you will be fine.

So what's the word on the new toolset? After slogging through this thread I'm not even going to mess with the old one. Any chance it'll be out before the new year? I'm dying to make a Simpson's mod!

Well, I love modding and naturally was going to play around with the toolset, but stopped the download process after reading through this thread. While there are plenty of solutions for fixing the game itself, are there any ones for repairing or avoiding the problems with the toolset, making it for the time being usable? I may have missed something, so apologies if my question already has a solution.

Best to wait until the 'fixed' toolset is released before messing with it. I did very little with the toolset and it ruined my save games, im not even sure what could have caused it, I didn't touch any campaign stuff. not worth it, besides they said a new one will be out any day now.

My saves been effected by this now.

I found deleting these does not make all the NPCs appear in the camp again but it does allow you to change them as you see fit. Any you choose appear in the camp but the rest do not. The merchant also reappears when i deleted these as do the emissary from various quests.

\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\override

And

My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Modules\\Singleplayer

Would editing a savegame cause Teammates to do less commentary? At the beginning of the game often they put theit input into a discussion. But now i never hear anyone complain or agree at key decisions from being thru Haven, and Mage Tower abit. And i dont hear 2 of them do random chatter as well.

Could it just be bad luck, or? Dont notice anything else of weirdness really.

FYI guys, you don't have to delete your entire "\\override" folder, just "\\override\\toolsetexport" folder

When you export, it adds the Folder "\\toolsetexport\\" into both the "\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\modules\\singleplayer\\override\\" and "Dragon age\\packages\\core\\override\\" Folders

I also believe it changes the "singeplayer.cif" in the "\\singleplayer\\" folder, well it must because right now that is the ONLY thing in there (After I deleted toolsetexport folder) and once I renamed the singleplayer folder, everything works fine.

TLDR: Delete; "\\toolsetexport" in both "\\singeplayer\\override" and "\\core\\overide and Singleplayer.cif in "\\singleplayer"

I have a quick question, I have downloaded the toolset and read in this thread that if you install the toolset with another OS user (Vista), it won't mess up the singe player campaign on the other user.

Can anyone confirm this?

I just downloaded the toolset and I really want to take a peek. I made a backup copy of both the game install folder and the bioware folder in documents. IF the toolset breaks the game, returning those folder structures should bring it back without hassle right?

Peace

The Elder Scrolls Construction Set I know pretty well, can anyone here give a comparison?

I have looked at this one but now after reading this thread I'm not sure I want proceed.

With the TEScs only a mod can make changes to the game and if you dont load the mod the changes don't happen.

I'm guessing this CS is completely different and not as easy to master.

Well that's true because the stuff it exports goes into your My Documents folder, so it should be different for different users. However you won't be able to test any of the stuff you create unless you manually copy the folders across.

But if you just want to mess around with stuff, it should be fine.

Oh and there's no need to backup the folders in that way, you just need to delete the contents of two folders in the my documents Dragon Age folder, listed in this thread or the wiki article (packages/core/override/toolsetexport and modules/single player).

Ugh. So I installed the toolset, used it for barely 30 minutes and then couldn't level up or leave any area. I found all the troubleshooting and help I could find on this site (and others) and nothing worked so I just uninstalled the toolset completely and then uninstalled Dragon Age so that I had nothing on my computer related to that at all (minus my saves).

I then installed Dragon Age and now I cannot load any of my many many save games nor can I select New Game. Can I never play Dragon Age again on this computer? (minus wiping my harddrive...) I'm pretty annoyed :(

P.S. I'm not entirely against deleting my saves even though i have nearly 50 hours of gameplay and it would be upsetting..

I just made a character preset, and my game stopped loading. So I reinstalled. Now it works, but my DLC won't show up. :( I can't even load my old saves due to them having premium content. :( I was scared of using toolset before - even though I used a tutorial to look at morph heads, now I am terrified of the thing.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ. This is unacceptable, people.

Pardon me for venting, but as soon as I open the Toolset one time, and don't mess with anything but my own little test module, all of my Dragon Age saves are destroyed. That's more than 60 hours of gameplay that, for how linear it is, I really don't want to experience again with a new character, nor do I have the time.

If there's anyone from Bioware reading this, it's your job to fix this glaring fallacy, before hordes of raging nerds rise out of their vibro-chairs and assault you with hot pockets at high velocity.

So what do I do if I want to start a new game? Any new save will be full of corrupt scripts or something, I guess. Do I need to totally uninstall in order to play DA?

I mean really, shouldn't I be able to start fresh after uninstalling everything and reinstalling Dragon Age? Makes no sense to me...

I can't even play New Game :(

I think it might be the most reacent patch thats done it, I was messing around with the toolkit earlier, (so that didn't help) but I also updated to 1.02, to my horror i discovered all party members become braindead, quest starts and finishes are missing (but you can still dig up the itmes without triggering quests, the yellow red and blue combat ring around the characters dissapear, also along with auto attack. help?

the same to me, that's a mess and not even a new install did work (no update from the toolset). [And i did erase the rest with regcleaner; so nothing was left]
It works so far with original game without patch and (only) upgrade from toolset (without sql in the upgrade). That's frustrating...

Did you delete the contents of My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\override? That's where the toolset exports core resources to, so if you exported plots from the old database and they're still in that directory they'll continue to mess with your game. I don't know whether uninstalling Dragon Age wipes those directories but I'm guessing it might not.

Like i said, with the old toolset-download it works with sql, but not with 1.01. And the same in the maingame i have probs with patch 1.02. (oh i have the german version, but that should make no difference...)

Edit: i have vista 32...

Thank you SO MUCH! I had this problem, but in reverse- I hadn't gotten far enough in the game to be at 'camp' yet, so my characters were just following me around behaving as if they /were/ in camp; aka, they followed me but did /nothing/ else. I couldn't get them to attack, use skills, spells, tactics... nothing, not even if I controlled them directly. (Even a right-click and they'd hit the monster once then just stand there and die.)

So instead of changing the 0s to 1s, I changed the 1s to 0s for the characters with me- and voila!

Thanks so much, dude! I'm so happy to get the problem fixed!
