As a mage, do I have to learn Blizzard, Inferno, and Tempest to perform the Storm of the Century combo?  Or, can I perform with my party members (e.g., I cast Inferno + Tempest and have Wynne cast Blizzard on top)?

Well, you can make combos from several spellcasters. I would advise you to learn all those yourself - you get an achievement f you learn all 16 Primal spells - it only works as a main character



And IIRC you didn't need Inferno for the Storm of the Century.. Could be wrong though, but first try just Blizzard + Tempest (Somehow an ice storm and a fire pillar don't mix in my opinion).

So is only Blizzard and Tempest required or do you need all three? Since nearly everyone have different opinions about this combo. Anyone who can give a definite confirmation on this question?

it is Spellmight + Tempest + Blizzard, without spellmight u cant get this.

You don't have to be in battle to do this, right? You can just cast out in the open and get the achievements?
