The Dragon Age: Origins Awakening "World Update" page has been updated with a new location: KAL'HIIROL

The dwarven fortress of Kal'Hirol was long known as a center of learning for the smith caste. Its workshops are where Paragon Hirol conceived his famous improvements to golem resilience and power, and where Hirol's favorite student developed a method for storing refined lyrium that is still used today. These breakthroughs brought Kal'Hirol great prosperity; its passageway are said to have glittered with gold and silver. But the fall of Kal'Hirol is shrouded in mystery. All that is known is that the fortress's elite one day showed up at Orzammar's great doors, exhausted and in despair over the loss of their home.

I have to say, I think that the level art for Kal'Hirol is my favorite in Awakening. The whole deep roads poluted by teh darkspawn taint was explored back in DA:O, but I think it is much better in Awakening. This area is awesome to look at and deadly to explore in game. I think fans are really gonna dig it. :)

I was hoping we would be able to revist a lost Dwarven fortress :D I wonder what many secrets it will hold. Perhaps some super lyrium enchanced darkspawn with mega armour O_o or maybe a small forgotten society of Dwarves, their mind long since deteriorated!!!!! dun dun dun
Awekining keeps looking better and better.

Argh, you guys got my hopes up again.  :P  PS3 user, as if you couldn't guess.

The new area looks nice though!  I must admit, though I hated the length of the Deep Roads the first few times I did it, I did enjoy the scenery a lot.  (Minus the end of the Dead Trenches, anyways...).

Excited that we're going to have lots of areas to explore though, certainly more than I imaged for the expansion.  I wonder what leads us to an old Dwarven fortress...

He used to have characters online, but they've been gone for some time now... same goes for the other BioWarians. Maybe a change in policy à la "thou must not spoil the game through thy profile"? *shrug*

As for Kal'Hirol: looks creepy, me likey.

For anyone who have read David Gaider's excellent novel, The Calling, and to those who like to be spoiled to death, Illiani, our man well known for his extended DAO lore knowledge put together a very interesting text regarding a  lost thaig and Kal’Hirol.

If you do not like spoilers and plan on reading David Gaider’s excellent novel, The Calling, then do not read any further. You have been warned.

I disliked Orzammar , it was claustrophobic for me, and it was by far the place I liked the least in DAO. I'd rather run with an open sky above in fact. Those yellow/red colours all the time were really hard to bear I think.

Well, let's hope there will be beautiful places like lost temples or forests...But I like nice rended medieval like cities...or elves cities in the trees maybe...

Sounds great.

Hope Bioware can find time to create a new patch for origins soon though.

SPOILERS:

There are so many sad dialogue errors at the end when you chose to not make Alistar king. Shouldn't be to hard to fix? There are unofficial mods fixing it, but it is a shame they still are in the game.

The most common errors is that Alistar is described as king even when he is not. And characters talk about him like he is alive when he is not.

What I would really like to see in the next Dragon Age is the main character and Alister looking for Morrigan. This will of course be a few years after Origins, and Alister's (or depending on the character that knocked her up) child will be a few years old by this time. They may not actually find Morrigan and the child, but maybe going to Orlais and a few of the other places that were mentioned but not seen in Origins could be found.
