Just a thought, but how come we always get Dwarves and never get Gnomes? What's wrong with Gnomes?
Always Dwarves........

well you have gnomes in WoW. but fantasy is getting very generic in its races though but i guess that is what people like

Because gnomes are about 6 inches tall.

Ideal for stealth missions, at that height.........but I'm sure I've seen taller. Maybe there's giant Gnomes too?

And pixies next?

There's nothing wrong with Pixies, friend - I'm not detecting prejudice, am I?

Look at it this way - kamikaze pixies alternating with gnomes, fired from your bow and unleashing hell on your enemies' ankles, thus distracting them and enabling you to get in there with the killer blow.....

I'd want to be a shapeshifter elementalist mage like I RP'd playing pen and paper Palladium.
That's weird, I was wondering about gnomes last night.

I think Dwarves are well known and for people who don't game a lot or play this type of rpg it is easier to understand.

That's a self-fulfilling prophecy though isn't it? People have heard of dwarves, so dwarves there'll be, meaning people will hear of dwarves so will have heard of dwarves so dwarves there'll be etc etc.
Meanwhile, if you're a gnome or a pixie, it's basically unemployment for you. You can't tell me that's not prejudice against the really, really little people....

Outside of WoW, do gnomes ever have real powers? Besides being excellent gardeners and travel agents, that is.

How about Halflings ?

Gnomes were awesome in 1st edition AD&D. I couldn't believe it when WotC dropped Gnomes from the core D&D rules (though they'd already changed them a lot by taking away their illusion preference).

Hold on, hold on, hold on people, we're getting seriously over-excited on this thread, with issues coming thick and fast - so before we move onto other species, I think we ought to work out the moral and cultural value of Gnomes - let's tackle that issue first, then look at pixies and halflings afterwards. For instance, just because Gnomes are (allegedly) only (only!!!! it would be huge for a mouse!!!) six inches tall, isn't any good reason to just bar them from rpg's is it? There's could be a valuable contribution, and do we all just have to want to be yet ANOTHER bloody Noble Warrior etc etc et bloody cetera? NO!!!We want more!!!Or less, of course, in the case of Gnomes - height-wise at least - we should stop denying Gnomes a fuller part to play, just because some people out there are heightist.

One of my favorite AD+D characters ever was a Gnome rogue, he was chief torturer for the baron *sigh* great memories.

So it seems where RPG's are concerned there's No Homes For Gnomes.

This thread just gave me a mental image of some six inch tall gnome walking up to the Lothering toll collectors or the Crimson Oars guys and trying to do an intimidate persuasion check haha!
Maybe the kill animation for the High Dragon would be to run into its nose and stab it in the brain? lol.

Unbelievable that a Dwarf can laugh at the height of a fellow creature, fafa-fooey;)

touch'e
I suppose it wouldn't be all that bad if there were a few Gnomes scurrying about. It would probably take some of the pressure off of us stout folk.
So I'll go ahead and say "yea" to the Gnomes. Finally, an origin that could be subjected to a little "tossing" from us dwarves.

Remember the mouse form? That is why we cannot have gnomes.
Also because it would make the romance options incredibly awkward. And, uh, traumatising.
