Area Energy Drain says that it does 160 pts of damage within a radius of 3 meters. Say there are two guys with full shields within 3 meters of each other. If I hit them with Area Energy Drain, would it take out 160 pts off of both of their shields and transfer a total of 320 pts to my shields?
Any help would be great.

Your answer is yes. It works just like Overload minus the stun and explosion to synthetics.

Yes to the "total of 320 pts" thing?

Wow. That means it beats out heavy Energy Drain on insanity. For me at least. There's so many shielded enemies on insanity, you'll want to maximize the radius.
Also, can you use the ability on unshielded synthetics and still do a lot of damage like Overload does (minus the stun and weapon overheat)?

I believe it does do damage to synthetics just like Overload. I haven't had a chance to play for a bit, so I'm not 100% sure. Also not sure if it will steal shields from an unshielded synthetic that it damages.

Cool. You guys sure about it sapping shields and tranfering them to you with multiple enemies though?

Bump. Sorry, I just need a little more confirmation than this.

Heavy Energy Drain has the advantage of exploding enemies if you kill them similar to Heavy Overload, it just doesn't say it.
It does double damage to synthetics and Shields.

Both versions do double damage to synthetics?

yes, you know Christina or Eric have a thread stickied in this forum that says they deal damage to shields. they neglect to talk about synthetics, but if you read what ED and OvLo say, you'll learn that they do indeed both have an effect on robots and the like. I have hurt plenty of synthetics with ED myself, I'm not sure but I think it still drains shields from them as well.
The difference is the effects. Overload stuns guns and synthetics. Energy Drain hits the same targets but doesn't stun. Instead it drains.
