What do you think is the best weapons for squadmates, particularly Garrus and Grunt, as those are my favorites.

Is the Geth Pulse Rifle good for squadmates?

i think they do best with burst DPS. i always leave them with shotguns and sniper rifles while usually the SMG wins out over the hand cannon. ammo isnt a factor either with squadmates which most burst DPS weapons are limited by.

i think the m92 is better for snipers but i dont know too much about the shotguns. geth pulse riffle for the nostalgia.

I was also wondering about this. I don't know if the Mantis or the Viper is the better sniper for your squadmates. Or if I should give Grunt his claymore or a rifle(Grunt spends a lot of his time in cover, so I would have to say a rifle).

I found that the slower firing weapons (Sniper/Shotgun) tend to make the squad mates use cover more effectively. I give the Vindicator/Collector Rifle for AR, Claymore/Scimitar for SG, Mantis for SR, Tempest for SMG, and the Carnex for HC.

For teammates

Pistols: Hand Cannon > Heavy Pistol although generally speaking, pistols are worthless for teammates. They fire too slow and accuracy suffers greatly being they are squadmates. Simply not efficient or effective.

SMG: Tempest > Shuriken

Shotguns: Eviscerator > Scimitar/Katana *Grunt's Claymore being the exception as that is obviously the best*

Sniper Rifles: Incisor (if you have DDE) > Viper > Mantis *Legion's Widow being the exception*

Assault Rifles: Collector's Rifle (if available) > Vindicator > Avenger > GPR
