So is the Engineer playstyle basically:
-Drone to tank/distract
-Incenerate for damage
-Cryoblast for Crowd Control.
Then use SMGs, pistols for regular dps?

How
does the Engineers kill speed, survivability, versatility compare to
that of other classes. I think part of the problem with Engineers is
that it's hard to figure out how they play just by reading the class
description.

Drone distracts, stuns, and does AoE damage(Explosive Drone is the way to go.)
Incinerate does damage and CCs organics.
Overload does damage and CCs synthetics.

Their base abilities are very effective crowd control with damage on top. Their kill speed is about as fast as any other if you play well. They have a lot more oppurtunities to get out of cover and shoot due to their Drone.

Engineer is the only class I really do not like. I have not even finished the game (level 24, right before IFF) as an Engineer, just cannot get mysef to play this class. Drone is nice and all, but it feels like it does the job for you, what fun is that. Just my 0.02$.

If you don't like the drone, don't use it?

Me thinks Engineer is the most tactical and or interesting of them all :P

I agree - it promotes teamwork similar to the soldier/biotic, but at a higher level.

I will have to disagree with this. The drone doesn't have the health nor deals enough damage to "do the job for you." It serves as a distraction and a form of control, much like singularity. Engineer's not for everyone and I felt that Bioware did a great job at making 6 distinct classes that have their own unique playstyle. However, if you wouldn't mind, could you tell me what exactly you do while playing the Engineer? Perhaps you're not using the class to its full potential or that you picked a complicated build? The Engineer, for me, is the most enjoyable class I played on both games.

Well, I ment it in the sense that I distract a foe and then shoot him in the back lol, Engineer is my least favourite class /by far/ because I really do not enjoy using the Drone, also before I tried Engineer, I had already tried Sentinel and then it felt like I am missing something. Engineer is not complicated or weak, it is powerful class, I just do not enjoy playing it. I mean Vanguard gives me great feeling after I charge and kill all the enemies in a very short time, Soldier really feels like combat specialist and Revenant rocks, Sentinel is fun to play and you can do some great combos, Infiltrator is kinda boring for me, cloak and headshot..blah,  Adept was fun for a while then it got boring. But Engineer never even began to appeal to me.

Yeah, thats what I figured, but then it makes no sense playing Engineer hence why I have yet to finish the game with that class (I had enough and ended right before IFF).

Sorry to hear that. :/... As stated before, Bioware did a great thing by making each class possess a different playstyle. It allows us to find a class that is more suitable to our kind of style oppose to playing one that simply just not suit us. I prefer a more tactical approach in battle, thus Engineer's more suitable for me. For people that like the fast pace rambo-style, Vanguard's better.

From Sinosleep:
Engineer Horizon on Insanity

Umm... okay, watching this video and only about 40 seconds in and I have to ask: Is the PC version of Insanity a lot easier than the 360 version?  I'm watching him duck out of cover with un-CC'd mobs on less than half his health bar and he is not gunned down immediately.  If I did that in my game I'd be dead before I could fire a shot.

I can see what you mean, god bless BioWare :)

Completely agreed, very well stated. I found soldier to be the most boring class and I can only stand infiltrator when playing CQC as in thisisme's video. I don't think these classes have a poorly execution-implementation; It's very simple, not my playstyle.

In addition to Gatsby and Sinosleep videos I posted long ago the "sealing the shutters" video from Garrus recruitment mission, it's, maybe, the  video I'm most fond of having recorded as it captures the essence of my engineering playstyle. This fight is incredible, pure mayhem and with an engineer... well it's beyond incredible, I'll love to see more recordings of  this fight from others fellow engineers to compare playstyles.

If anyone haven't already seen it I'm reposting here the link; with time maybe people will stop saying about weakest class etc.

Thanks for the videos.

I found Average Gatsby's quite informative. Basically, you strip shields with Overload, use Incinerate against Armor and Cryoblast against health. He mostly used the SMG. Perhaps switch to the Heavy Pistol for armored targets (but with double Incinerate that probably isn't necessary too often). One cool thing about the drone is that it makes it easier to get in close against enemies.

Sinosleep's video kinda confused me. Why use Cryoblast against Harbinger? Especially when he still had armor. Is there something I'm missing or did just miss-click Incinerate there?
