online terms and conditions and feature updates found at www.ea.com You
must be 13+ to register with EA Online. Ea May provide certain
incremental content and/or updates for no additional charge, if when
available.
EA may retire online features after 30 days notice posted
on www.ea.com"- Directly from the Dragon age box
seriously
considering what happening now with us can't playing the game it looks
like when EA does decide to stop the online features all our saves will
make the game unplayable... and render this game a 60 dollar piece of
trash basically cause we can't play the game anymore

Second, might BioWare not release a patch disabling any need to be online? They patched out the DRM in NWN eventually.

If there is a periodic check, and if, 10 years down the road, they decide to kill social.bioware.com, my guess is that BioWare will provide a final patch that shuts off any online check and will provide you with instructions on how to manually back up your DLC in case you need to re-install.
BioWare still has a BG1 patch available on their website the last I checked. I doubt there will be wholesale abandonment & breakage of your game.

First, why wouldn't be allowed to play offline? We can play offline now. Once the DLC is registered, it doesn't need to talk to the internet at all.
Really? My DLC never worked if I was offline.

I have it set to automatically log me in, but sometimes it doesn't so I end playing offline until I notice. Never had any problem playing with my DLC whilst not logged in.

Well i have all the DLC 4 the game and i can't play it , when it says connecting to severs it then stops and says error, and then blank screen with music, also you can't play the game offline with the DLC...
I am a 360 user as well and I play all the time when I am not connected to the internet DLC included.

But returning to the original question: If the servers do get switched off, then registration of newly installed games will be a real problem. I would say that in the unlikely event that the servers were switched off, there would be some kind of patch to disable the check for registration. It's all hypothetical however, I mean the game is what - 3 or 4 months old?

You know I had the same concerns today as I am a 360 owner as well as a crazed collector and will in all likelyhood keep this game for many years.
This thread will explain how to make sure you "own" all of your DLC.

I am a PC user. The 1st time I tried to enter RTO, i was offline and unable to access, however, once i visited any of the DLC when online- I was then able to return and access offline. So maybe it checks the 1st time you try to access new DLC in game? Have not tried w/ multiple characters or anything, but maybe this will help some users.
Nope, it's not that simple. I've had to redo log-ins multiple times on PC because it thinks I'm not authorized to use the DLC. It's not a one-time authentication, there is some kind of periodic check.
That said, my guess is that 6 months to a year down the line, when they think the market for the DLC is past, that will be down away with.
