oh yea, do we get a new brothel since there ain't no romance? how's the orlesian warden going to get some lovin'?

Right hand, since Bioware doesn't implement lefties aside from dual-wielding.  Fereldan brothels have a no Orlesian policy.

It's the character interactions and yes, the ability to romance your believable companions that make a Bioware game stand out from the competition. If you remove that, then the nagging little flaws in the basic game that you are left with start to add up. It no longer has something that a hundred other games don't have. Is that a big deal? It could be for the long term survival of the company.

Wait there are a hundred other games just like DAO but lack romances?  Really?  Can you list 10?

The Wizardry series, Might and Magic I-IX, Oblivion, Morrowind, Ultima I-whatever, yes, I could.  The basic plot is pretty standard RPG fare, doesn't mean it wasn't done well, but it is not in any way unique.

I don't personally care to see Morrigan or Leliana again, so you have to realize that players all want different things. You can't please everyone all the time.

Lol, yeah, especially given that Orlesian = French, then he's gonna need something or he'll explode... kleenex anyone?

I for one am glad Morrigan isn't coming back. She deserves an entire sequel in her honor.

Which will probably happen...is my guess.

...for 20 dollars more you can get FFXIII the same day...
3 disc 60+ hour game for 60 dollars
or...
15 hr. expansion that doesn't reflect other DLC purchased or include story aspects of the main game for 40 dollars.
tough choice

Yeah, one of these games will have a coherent plot and interesting gameplay. The other will be called FFXIII.

One of these games will have dull characters that look like teenage prostitutes wielding giant weaponry the size of a small country. The other is called "Awakening".

Tough choice.

I don't see whats so bad about Oghren. I personally found him hilarious and i'm glad at least SOMEONE from Origins who I really enjoyed is going to have a part in this. Although I am going to miss my dog, Leliana, Shale etc. I guess I'll just have to be thankful that at least Oghren and Alistair will be returning.

I think we're gonna be stuck with Ohgren...as he "plays a major part" probably only get cameos from Alistair and any others. Then the new "dream team" of five non-romancibles.

Hopefully the expac steps up to the plate in other ways..so those missing parts aren't so noticeable. Going to have to find new armor for Ohgren, as he's currently wearing my blood armor..lol so when I see him in Awakening ..he could very well be in his unders....

If you have to reach all the way back to 1981 I think that proves my point.

I didn't say anything about the plot being unique.  I meant it is a spectacular game regardless of whether you romance anybody.

Anyway you are welcome to dig up Wizardry II and hunt down Minax if you want, I will go ahead and play Awakenings.

Why does the lack of romance even matter? Romantic sub plots only had a minor presence in Origins anyway. They certainly were not the focus of the game, nor should they have been. The lack of any in Awakening is hardly anything to get upset about...Dragon Age isn't a dating sim after all.

Well as I have been told they could release Awakenings and announce 'no new dungeons, towns, monsters or fights.  This expansion is completely dedicated to developing the romance you started in DAO and that is it' and that would have been enough for alot of people...

After experiencing a game that made them feel SO attached to the characters as to consider blindly boycotting any expansion which does not feature them, I would have thought that those people should have faith that the developers who made that game are (gasp) capable of making an equally fantastic expansion that will treat the events of the original game appropriately (as has been assured by Gaider et al many times now), while advancing the plot into new areas and away from replicating the same routines all over again.

Tl;dr - Remember, boys and girls, that it is indeed possible to enjoy videogames that don't feature Leliana/Morrigan/Zevran/Alistair romances.

This.  I mean I loved the characters in past Bioware games to, but part of the fun is getting to know new characters.

GoGamer.com currently has 183 titles for sale under the category of PC RPG's.  I listed series because I didn't want to waste time and space listing a bunch of newer titles.

My friends and I are pretty bummed about the whole DLC issue. What was the point of buying RTO again?

Well pretty much to avenge Cailan's death and save his armor etc from the darkspawn.......that was the whole point.   Thats why we did it.

Once Awakening is installed..content that we paid for...disappears, non-existant.  Can't use in Awakenings.

I suppose my Arcane Warrior is going to have to use her fists for awhile fighting darkspawn, because..both her Winter's breath staff, and her Starfang sword are going poof.

So without the Romances Dragon Age is just a mediocre and uninteresting game and easily replaceable with any other RPG?  I guess I can only say I disagree strongly.

But if you don't think Bioware does a good job and only shores up mediocrity with romances I have to wonder why you care enough to post about their games.
