I agree, Shedevil. That's what makes the game so great, and I hope they continue in this vein. The people surrounding the quests, especially friends and allies give great depth to it all. There certainly is a lot of straying from the path going on. It is also said that Grey Wardens can't hold titles, but that seems not enforced. Alistair is king, and my Cousland is Teyrna of Gwaren.
I also believe that the friends, family, and allies will know that the first duty of the Grey Warden is vigilance and making sure that there are enough competent Grey Wardens available. That would indeed involve traveling, and trying to find the very best candidates. After all, Duncan traveled to search for potential candidates all over the place. (Highever/Denerim/Orzammar/Circle/Dalish camp.)
What do you hope/think will happen for Dragon Age 2?

I'm just saying that the warden the player builds in origins can be a hero, or notorious, though his main plight is to kill darkspawn, im sure reading the two books, and playing through dao theres many examples of wardens doing more then just pwning darkspawn regardless of the reason for doing so.

true and if we didnt have poeple we cared about who's to say we would even want to try and save the world anyway if you think about it what makes us want to do these things, its usually coz we want a better place for the people we hold close to our hearts we want to protect them and make things safe for them at least thats what most people would do some just enjoy a killing spree but other want to help as many people and make everyone safe like wynne, lelianna and alistair they try to save all they can because they care where as morrigan is about survival of the fittest

back to my original point, My hopes would be that the warden the play built in origins is the main hero through out the dragon age series because building great lasting characters makes these types of games that much better, for me its akin to having a different actor play bat man in the next installment instead of nathan bale, I mean yeah hes still batman but is it the same?

yep i agree plus it gives us a chance to build our wardens character and hopefully to get more depth and insight into what the wardens are truely about and thedas itself also the political side could be intresting to learn more about in later expansions or da 2

Bioware will claim to improve the combat and then make it into gears of war with swords to please the casual gamers. The end

@ Immortal.
I disagree. That would not be using the DA universe to its fullest potential. I don't want to play a Ferelden all the time. I want to be an Orlesian, or a Tevinter. Maybe even a Qunari. Plus, I am planing for my PC to become king consort in Ferelden. It would be weird if he starts exploring Thedas and neglecting his duty. Stories have to come to a closure , in order for new ones to arise. The DA:O Warden's story should end with the last expansion.
That's not to say that there wouldn't be references to the PC, who probabl;y wuld attain legendary status. In fact, sometimes it's more illuminating to hear about and look at your prievous character from the eyes of another one.

i dont think they will bioware are epic for making fantastic games with alot of depth in rpg's if anything its ea we should be worried about they rush everything and shove them out as quick as they can i hope it doesnt happen with da releases as they have potential to be 1 of the best selling games ever if bioware continue to write and make them as well as they have upto now

One thing is expected is new races, so starting as a Qunari or someone from Tevinter won't be out of the question. I'm in same boat as shedevil when it comes to thinking ea may force a rush, but one can hope bioware do take time to make it.

Orlesian invasion. Just out of principle, as that is what they like to do with Ferelden.

that could be intresting derengard and instead of going back in time to maric, if they tried to invade again and we had to try and stop it that i'd definatly like to see

To the whole prequel thing people are suggesting... What?!
You'd either be forced to play as a pre-determined character (so no choice in race), or the character is shoe-horned into the lore, with no mention of them made previously.

playing with our warden from dao or creating a new 1 if thats what people want but we should be given a choice to use our warden if we want to

One thing I think would be cool is if upon loading the game asks for a game save of your choice and such game save will implement all choices you've made to affect your enviroment. For instance if certain choices killed some of your previous party members they wouldn't make appearances. Also your previous warden (obviously aged) will appear. They could teach your new character a certain skill set.

It would be interesting but probably crap if they done something like Wolfstein. You enter and leave the fade to overcome obstacles. Sten could do it to cut the line in the bakers and sweetshops.

hopefully we will still get to play as our warden with our choices carrying over for a few expansions or da2 so that they have a chance to build up and expand also it would be cool to see how our choices affect those around us over time and how we addapt to different surroundings and their political side

It will not have a single character or reference to DAO. There were wayyyy too many choices that affected the game. There will be no "demon baby" from Morrigan, because not everyone took that route, I didn't! Come on people, you are smarter than that aren't you???
It will be an all new cast with a brand new story. It's not an expansion, it's a new game.

Not confirmed as false, but it is most likely a spinoff or Expansion since the heads of Bioware stated that they are going to A) either update the engine heavily or
Because of this it should take them some time to iron things out before they can proceed on with DA 2

Considering the huge success of Dragon Age, and EA's recent financial worries, there's little doubt that EA is exerting considerable pressure on Bioware to release the second full installment as soon as possible. I'm quite surprised that Awakenings will be released so soon after the launch of the title, especially with the DLCs that were already provided. It keeps the community active (as does the toolset, as Bioware is keenly aware), and that's a smart move. The organization and efficiency required to produce quality work at this scale is admirable and clearly, I think we all hope it continues.
E3 will be in June this year, and EA will be there. Hopefully there will be some sort of tease provided, but I wouldn't be surprised if not, honestly. Bioware, you DO let your employees some sleep sometime, right?

player character voice acting is a must.
shale should return since she is the only one who will be alive in more than 100 years, and a sequel is likely to take place at least 100 years in the future. (imo)
