He will stick around to be king, but he will ALWAYS leave the group. He won't serve alongside Loghain, no matter what.

The epilogue only says that their rule is a decent sucess, not that either is happy.
Happiness is irrelevant. One hopes that they grow to enjoy each other's company over time, but really, all Alistair needs to do is get her knocked up with an heir - anything else is a bonus.
Yep, the lack of fertility is almost surely a future plot point, as it's across the board. In terms of an heir, it doesn't seem to matter who you put on the throne, but Alistair by himself would have the best shot as he can pick a queen who hasn't gone five years without pregnancy, or who is tainted. Even then the odds are against it, and I don't think that's an accident.

I find it interesting that everyone assumes Anora cannot get pregnant, particularly the women on this forum. Has no one considered that maybe it was Cailan that was "shooting blanks?" Maybe this has been suggested previously, but everything I seem to read is that she's to "blame." Kind of a chauvinistic thought process.

I believe the poster was referring to the fact that no matter who you put on the throne, there are heir issues. Anora ruling on her own never re-marries, Anora marrying Alistair has his taint problem (and the fact that they hate each other problem), and the two Wardens marrying presents a double-taint whammy. The best chance of an heir seems to be letting Alistair rule alone and hoping he picks a fertile Bimbo Bannorn as queen.Helios969 wrote...

It's a rumour inside the game and it's being adressed twice (once in the original campaign, once in RTO). Why do you think that is?

^this.
I've just typed and retyped a whole bunch of fertility issues, feminism and my thoughts therein, but this place isn't probably the place for it. I'll just say that women have a history of being our own biggest enemies, a notion that is not entirely our fault. THANKS PATRIACHY. THANKS A LOT.

Oh brother. If Anora rules alone, she doesn't re-marry. Is she oppressed by patriarchy then?soignee wrote...

See above. It's been discussed plenty. Can we stop with the feminism sermons now? Eamon suggesting putting Anora away doesn't even mean that he is saying it is Anora's fault, but that Cailan should try something else in case it is- a Theirin heir being the primary goal for him.Helios969 wrote...

I know what the game implies and the potential foreshadowing of such, I'm just surprised that no one (particularly the women gamers) have considered the alternative.

I've heard plenty of times in discussions about Cailan and Anora that it is just as likely one as the other.
He does assume that, but his goal is to see a Theirin heir. If in doubt, from his perspective you have to try another "candidate."soignee wrote...
That was the issue, was it? The issue was about Cailan/Alistair and Anora, and whose "fault" it was why she cannot produce heirs. Eamon obviously thought it was Anora's if the codexes/letters from RTO are anything to go by...

Well, we don't know that. For all we know, Anora didn't get pregnant before because Cailan was too busy polishing his sword in the armoury.
