Here it is, plain and simple for all the people who say The Architect is not the purple guy with the gold strip covering his eyes. Go to the Dragon Age website and on the page it should have two updates for Feb 16th. One of the updates should say "New Dragon Age Awakening Website". In the subtext it says "Come face to face with The Architect, ..." The Architect is a link...click on it...see The Architect. End of story.

MClover, the way the forum is going, I fear that even after we have impaled the Architect on a two handed sword, there will still be people claiming thatthat wasn't him :D

Do you mean thats not really Duncan?

*runs away cackling gleefully (though in a thoroughly tainted fashion, of course...)*

Yep, this guy,

is indeed the Architect, as confirmed in this thread here.

That link doesn't really confirm it at all considering the original thread name was "Lich Guy...kinda hawt" and didn't mention The Architect at all. There were still debates going on a few days ago and today we finally got a subtle confirmation from Bioware about who The Architect is.

If he is the Architect, then there are continuity errors with "The Calling". I demand that BioWare admits their mistake before I accept the facts!

Except then the thread starter (myself) PMed David to ask if it was the Architect (cause I didn't think it was) and he told me lich guy is the Architect.

Which is why I updated the thread title.

Yes. Instead we should all assume that he is the hot lich/darkspawn romance option that doesn't really exist.

Er.. Oops. XD

So what you're saying is, the ugly darkspawn who pushes a soldier off the side of that castle is Duncan? Nah, I already figured the lich guy was the Architect. Makes sense considering his dialog in the original trailer.

Honestly, I don't see why people call him "Lich Guy".  It seems clear to me that the ribcage pattern on his chest is just that- on his chest.  If anything, he looks like a guy corrupted by a Lovecraftian Old God.

That would explain why the romances don't carry over. :P

I know perfectly well what a lich is, both by etymology and fantasy interpretation , but he looks nothing like one.  As I said, the ribcage is the only thing that makes him resemble a corpse (apart from skin color, which can be attributed to his bad case of NOT BEING HUMAN).

I called him Lich Guy because I thought he was a lich.

Well he is a darkspawn mage, some darkspawns were once humans. Are darkspawn considered dead though?

No, but I didn't know he was a dorkspawn when I called him lich guy.

FAIR ENOUGH.

@Siradix:

I was under the impression that most all of them used to be mortals; hurlocks are former humans, genlocks were dwarves, shriekers were elves and ogres were qunari.  I think.   Or was that just the Broodmothers that spawn them?

He looks kind of snaky.....was looking at that thing on the side of his head.

Okay bear in mind I haven't read the books, but I am wondering if he was one of the Original mages cast out by the Maker?  Can still see his "humanity" somewhat...just not sure what that snaky thing is on the side of his head, unless its just some kind of fancy helmet.   Or unless he can spawn things out of his head.  lol

Darkspawn are considered soulless husks...so dead I suppose. But what gives them energy to move around..kill etc if so?

Depends on the original race of the broodmother before they were transformed to broodmother.

Elven broodmother produces Shrieks,  Dwarven broodmother produces genlocks,  Human broodmother produces hurlocks, qunari broodmother produces ogres.

Back to the topic, considering his exotic, regal appearance and desire to kill of the Old Gods, I'd say he might be one of the ancient Tevinter Magisters. I've only read a summary of The Calling from dragonagewiki.com, so I don't have the nuanced information that a person who's read it would, though.
