I've read a few things about people moding their game. What's that all about? Does it permanently alter your saved game(s)? What's the purpose?
Curious about Moding....

Check out the Projects tab at the top of the forum. 'Mod' is short for modification, where people change game code, or create new character models, levels, quests, items, whatever, and incoroporate them into the game.
They usually don't affect savegames directly, but the core game files, so that when you load one of your savegames, there are some extra additions thrown in there, similar to how DLC works.

Mods really do add a lot to the game. DA:O has a selection of excellent mods. You should also check out http://www.dragonagenexus.com/ for even more mods. I prefer the nexus over the official bioware site b/c you can sort the list, etc. Plus, some of the better mods you won't find on the official site for one reason or another... I guess the modding community just likes the nexus better

Yes, well, without a good search feature, it seems like people get a LOT more hits on Nexus for their mods than this site. I sure as **** know mine have.
13,000 views of my Detailed Tooltips mod on here, 41,000 on Nexus.
