if you talk to legion, it is obvious that the geth really aren't a threat to any race, they are simply waiting for a time when they can all "uplift" together in a collective space - a dyson sphere. before you all scream "evidence" here it is:

1. legion mentions that is precisely their goal - sovereign offered them a quick way to do this - the body of a reaper, but they want to achieve it for themselves.

2. EDI mentions the massive "presence" unlike anything she's known when Legion contacts the collective.

3. Legion says of the quarian homeworld that they are just "caretakers" of it and have only repaired the environmental damage caused by the quarians and nothing else.

I will agree with all of these as I remember them in the dialog. I think EDI refered to the collective as "A Mind the size of a Galactic Arm". Legion makes it very clear that Geth are only software and their mobile hardware platforms are mearly tools/means to an end (I would imagine somthing like a car is to us). And yes the Geth want no handouts from anyone, also legions tone makes it clear the Geth assume nothing either.

All geth outside the Veil, except Legion, to me are heretics. True geth only seem to use defensive actions, only attacking the heretics because they pose a threat to them. A scenario could be possible where Quarians and Geth are able to exist on the same planet peacefully, though first the Quarians would need to change their beliefs and understandings. Legion as an ambassador perhaps, or if destroyed then some sort of legacy? Ever since getting Geth data in the first, and what was shown on the screen, I believed that Geth have some sort of fondness to their creators.

In short, it's kind of like what legion says. They will only become involved wiyh organics if they try and interfere with geth business. Quarians are the most likely to do this, and no doubt would be slaughtered by their creations if they were hostile.

i never heard Legion saying about Geth being caretakers up to now. It does kind of sound like they are getting things ready for when their creators come home. Good thing I tell the Conclave that war is a bad idea. Tali and Legion to work together to bring peace between their races Posted Image

The key word is "involved", a very ambiguous term. We are currently involved in this discussion, we could also be involved if you kicked me in the nuts. All terms aside "involved" can mean a great degree of interaction so it is my belief that a major side plot of ME3 will either be a peaceful rejoining of the Geth and Quarians or all out war.

I think you will see the "True Geth" and the Racchni either as squad members or both having major roles in the main quest story-line.

According to Legion, the non-heretics aren't even a threat to the Quarians—if the Quarians don't attack them. Indeed, there is every indication that the Geth would even let the Quarians have their homeworld back if the Quarians would agree to live in peace.

I think that true Geth are pretty peaceful. I expected them to be cold and calculating but talking to Legion, you get a sense that they are capable of some "emotion". Perhaps not in the way that we know it, but Geth are a lot more humane than I gave them credit for. E.g. even though the Quarians tried to deactivate them, they still view them as being their creators and the way Legion says that they would be open to peace makes me believe that the Geth have a peaceful disposition.

I agree, the geth are quite peaceful wanting only to...

1. Survive

2. Advance on their own terms (No Handouts!)

3. Network all Geth at the same time.

The Quarians have a number of different views but the majority seems to think the Geth are bad guys because they succesfully defended themselves. Most of the Quarian views are based on the "Your a Machine and exist only to do what I say" mentality. The galaxy as a whole needs to look at the Geth a race, accept that and procede with life. If that happens then the Geth would be accepted on the same grounds as the rest of races in the universe. It is a ever shifting balancing act if you base the logic on fairness, the Paragon Shep response to the Tali, Legion fight proves it.
