Why the **** does anyone care if we see her naked? I'm curious, it would be interesting, but I think some people have lost track of what they're saying about her. Or they're not mature enough to realize that seeing someone naked doesn't matter that much.

I guess I should blame the fact that the majority of guys are convinced that they don't really care about romance. As if no one should care about romance if you can't see them naked.

You don't have to grow up on a farm to know how to spell 'hooves'. I was never an astronaut, and I can spell 'aeronautic' perfectly fine.

Tali is relatively a westernized moe character and her fans are tame compared to much of what you see in fandom in the Far East.

I'm a Tali fan, but honestly I just stay away from the thread and monitor how large it gets.

I wonder if it'll still be floating around at the top of the boards by the time Mass Effect 3 comes out?

(I know it's a little strange to pay such close attention to a thread on a forum, but come on, at this point that thing might as well be some kind of living being.)

Nor did I, and I can spell it correctly.

Does anyone else find the "Taliband" term funnier than usual because quarians are essentially Space Muslims?

It's not Tali's fault some people are irresponsible about their fandom.

Didn't they recognize Conrad for what he was? Or was Bioware's portrayal too nice?

I, too, am annoyed by the fact that her romance amounted to one conversation about sex and then the follow up. I really, really like the character. I can't stand the romance, and the eagerness of some makes it worse.

For me, anyway.

But I would never call it bestiality. She is more intelligent and deserving of respect than a goat, I think, unless you just don't really like her. And she's just a computer game character, seriously - no one can actually have sex with her. Thank god. Poor thing would get raped.

And I'm sorry to say all these things - there's a lot of good going on in the Tali thread. But there's a lot of jerk-offery - perhaps just a handful of people - going on that got stale a loooong time ago, and is getting staler by the moment.

They're more like Space Gypsies crossed with a bit of Space Jew in terms of Zionism.

I don't want to see her naked. Some people you ask may say that, but don't generalize everyone into that category. I'm just interested to see what ANY kind of Quarian looks like. It just so happens that the most important Quarian in our thread did reveal herself, we just had no possible way of viewing the person. Which made half of us mad and half of us happy.

I absolutely agree with that sentiment.  But there just isn't enough to differentiate that sentiment from those who go a little too far, unfortunately.

I know that some Taliband are extremists but not all Taliband are extremists.  But you have to admit that most extremists are Taliband.

Though I see the majority of them as nerds ****** to poor Rule 34 illustrations of their favourite space gypsy through their thick horn-rimmed glasses, I do think you're over exaggerating yourself a bit there.

Let them have their Tali. It's not harming any of us.

I am a nerd (no ******, though) in virtually every respect, except appearance.  I am not dapper, suave or a lady killer, but I am not an emaciated creature with thick corrective lenses in an awful dress shirt with a pocket protector.  I am a recluse, some even call me a hermit.

But yeah, she's my favorite space gypsy and thanks for the defense.  No, we are not harming anyone and she just happens to embody a lot of the qualities many of us seek in women that we, sadly, seem unable to find.  Admitting that makes me even more a nerd, but hell, I was copping to it anyway; in for a penny, in for a pound.

The truth is that most Talimancers lack that special "other" in their lives and see Tali as a representation for the girl that they would love to have as part of their lives. That is why she is worshipped, because she represents that archetype.

Nothing wrong with that, really. I don't blame them for doing so.

You know, I really loved Tali from ME 1, I was totally psyched to have her back in ME 2 *and* get a chance to romance her and finally, I'm very happily married so I take issue with the lacking a 'special other' in my life. So I take issue with that generalization... But I do agree about the Tail thread and a *few* of the  Tali fans though, they are a *bit* extreme, not that some of the Kaiden/Ashley fans aren't you know...<_<

There are always a few eccentric people in any group who tend to take things a little over the top. It's to be expected, especially in a group that size. Even so, there has not been anything in the thread that comes close to what you describe. We're very inclusive and don't care to exclude people simply because they can sometimes come off a bit creepy.

I will say that the thread isn't for everyone, but simply because it isn't doesn't mean that those who do enjoy posting in it are somehow outcasts or fanatics. We all just enjoy taking part in the camaraderie and fun of it all, supporting our favorite ME2 character as we do.

They're terrorists.

Honestly, they're sort of ruining Tali for me. I feel like the Tali romance was designed for the most rabid fans of her, rather than people who just normally like her. I imagine this will continue to ME3.

But there's mostly some decent fanboyism there.  Whenever I've gone in there - I haven't looked at every page, but I've probably looked at a good three hundred or more (that was tedious) - there's been a tone that was a little more than I could stomach.  Maybe I just don't like her that much.  But honestly, I can't imagine liking anyone in real life that much.

Fan art is great.  I have one of those on my desktop even, and I also have Tali as my wallpaper on my iTouch.   It's just... meh.

im starting to agree with you, i actually tried all i could to romance tali in ME1, and finding out i could do so in ME2 impacted my descision to get ME2 ASAP (still the best 60 bucks ive ever spent). But after coming here for a bit and watching several people make a grand goddess/**** scene about her, it didn't strike as average fandom for a VG LI, and it  rather disturbs me, the "non-hardcore talimancer" on how far some people go...

While I will not mention things, yes there have been people who have trolled and intentionally put things to create Jerk-offery.

Like I said, I've read every post. Yes. Every post. I think I've counted about 800 negative to the thread posts, about 1000 "how many pages now?" posts and the rest positive on topic posts actually having to do with the history of quarians and answering FAQ's about Tali and her family. I've also seen people put their creative hands to work and start actually drawing and writing.

So yeah. 1800 negative posts.

Out of nearly 34,000.

You know though, you can start this thread all you want, but the Tali fans have much much greater numbers. They may just end up hijacking this thread. They will win through war of attrition.
