What you think about this video. This video is making fun of Mass Effect, Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, Gears of War and Halo.

Lets see how everyone takes it. Do you agree, not agree?

Videogame writing tends to suck.  It's improving, though, and it's appropriate in some games to create a sense of immersion.

Plus, no matter how hard I try, I can't teabag somebody by reading Cormac McCarthy.

Man, I don't know.

It's like... I can tell it should be funny, but then I'm like, "Jesus **** this guy's voice is goddamn terrible for this style of narrating."

Then my ears bleed.

Having watched every zero punctuation episode I can say the voice doesn’t quite hit the spot but the dialogue itself is pretty amusing and is fairly spot on for the over all point of it :)

I mean its a legit concern, but its also kind of stupid. People don't want game games anymore, because you can't really make a better game then Counter Strike, or warcraft 3, or sins of a solar empire, or Starcraft or Mario World...etc...etc....

I'm still playing Starcraft for 11 years, my highest Iccupt rating was a B when I was in high school (which is competitive, and will win you cash tournies...and has for me...in the US). Valve hasn't gotten a penny out of me since the orange box three years ago.

I've sunk so many hours into starcraft that its mind boggling.      Thousands.     I'm ok with it taking over a decade for a sequel, because goddam, I'm not DONE with it yet.    I'm sure the BF2 people, the CS'ers, the TFT'ers, the WC3'ers, the D2'ers, they feel the same way.

I've spent what, maybe a total of 30 hours into ME.    And I'm basically done with it.     I want ME at a yearly basis, its good, wholesome fun made for mass consumption.     Gaming is a hobby I enjoy, and ME is a component of that.   Its like how a specific book might be part of the hobby of reading.   Playing SC isn't a component of the hobby of gaming, it is it's own goddam separate hobby, like how playing chess is not a component of the hobby of gaming.    Playing chess is its own hobby.

Giving me a starcraft every year will only result in destroying the competitive scene, and the balance within it.   Giving me a good ol bioware RPG every year will only result in fun, as long as the remain relatively well made.   Nothing overwhelming either, just a good months worth of gaming entertainment.

Their simply isn't that much demand for truely competitive games, not only because the population is extremely niche, but because your not going to be playing multiple games like that at the same time.     The demand simply isn't super high for them.

In regards to games like Mario, thats just the advancing pace of the game industry.    Mario was what, 45 minutes long?   Contra was what?   An hour?    Were certainly not lacking on arcadic twitch platformers that don't cater to casuals, go on xbl or w/e, their are tons of them.     If your asking for a 20 hour long game with the same difficulty as mario, its never been done before because applying such simplisitc design over such extreme lengths results in your brain exploding.

I mean, the only reason mario was hard was because it had no respawns and limited lives.    Most modern games would be even harder if similar mechanics were implemented.    All we've really gained is the concept of unlimited savepoints.

I wasn't aware there were bad Yatzee impersonators. You truly learn something new every day.

I've had this conversation with a friend before. The idea that there's "video game talent" is ludicrous. I can see me losing to a 10 foot tall man at basketball. There's a clear advantage this individual has. You can't train height, so his advantage is genetic.

But, to think there's some genetic code that can program for video game aptness is silly. Sure, a person with a mental handicap won't get as many frags as me, but I contend that there's no magical gene that will magically make someone better at Call of Duty or Halo than someone who's willing to sink a lot of time and is capable of rudimentary learning.

You may not think you can paint the Mona Lisa... but maybe you should try it. You're not going to get it in the first couple of years though. DaVinci didn't just pick up a brush and stroke out a masterpiece, just like you can't expect someone to pick up a game controllers and suddenly be a competitive gaming savant.

There's someone who makes Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw cover videos...

This is legitimately sad.

Also, this pale pretender is wholly unappealing, witless, and would benefit from, had he the brain of a cricket, actually writing his own rants instead of copying off the "Yahtzee form".

Honestly, I think this guy was completely full of himself. The amount of ego and entitlement oozing out of that video was astonishing.

"Hello, I am better than everyone else at everything gaming, you should be jealous of it the way you're jealous of someone's giant man parts, and even though people like me make up a small percentage of the gaming audience, every game developer should make games specifically for me! Everyone who reviews games is a retard and I could do a million times better than them because I'm better at that too. Games should never include plot and character development because that takes away from my being able to mindlessly kill things constantly to become even better at doing that so that I can appease my fragile ego."

Yatzee's armpit hair deserves a better impersonator than this guy.

That wasn't really his point.    His point was that games should be more like chess, the tradional definition of games, one that encourages user skill, and refinement of said skill rather then focusing on creating a experience that is designed to act as a "pleasure button".    The vanity was more for humorous effect.

My own opinion, coming from someone who has made money off competitive gaming (starcraft) is that its kind of illogical to dismiss all other forms of gaming.     Chess would be meaningless if everyone tried to make chess every year, and people actually played them.     Theirs room for gaming as games, and theirs room for gaming as media.    They can coexist.

Its especially odd because their is simply no need to constantly develop competitive games yearly.    A few great comp games every decade is all you really need.

Yeah... it's hard to complain about someone else's opinions when you don't really have any opinions yourself.

That was one of his points.  He implied that every type of game that moves away from that somehow doesn't deserve to exist, which is what I take odd's with.   He seems to dislike the genre's of games that are most popular, but only supports it with the fact that he thinks everyone who likes those things are just unskilled morons.

I mean, if he meant this entirely as comedy then fine, but if he was trying to insert any other points in there that he wanted to seem legitimate, he failed completely to back any of them up with any sort of logic.
