My pc crashed and I had to reinstall all programs and drivers. I've reinstalled my audio drivers and I am having sound play but I hear absolutely nothing when I run DA. I've tried reinstalling twice with the same problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I also have no audio in Dragon Age at all. Audio works fine in Windows and other games though.

Try and see if you get sound through analog or a pair of headphones. Might be a problem with the DTS encoding.

Unfortunately, I don't have a pair of headphones to test with. I'm confused as to how it could be a DTS encoding problem if the encoding happens outside of the game and I get sound fine in Windows and other games. I'll see if I can borrow some headphones from somewhere.

I use a Creative Fatali1y USB headset and, on Dragon Age, it worked very well.... Take note, I said "worked". Anyways, I use conventional speakers as my primary source of audio and they work fine when I play Dragon Age so....what's up????

I had the same problem. I run WinXP Pro x64, and now my system boots up w/ WAVE sound muted. Sound in the game didn't work, then I just started playing with volume, etc and it came back on, been on ever since - but I can't hear any other program playing sound while DA is running!

edit your Dragonage.ini file located in: C:\\Users\\xxxx\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings (if you have xp..well I consider that a dead OS, and you'll have to find it on your own. This is where it is for Vista/7).

Here is what the sound section should look like (also disabling intro movies can help as well as they can bork sound to start right off):

[Movies]

DisableIntroMovies=1

FirstRun=0

0=dragon_age_ea_logo.bik

1=dragon_age_main.bik

2=(UNASSIGNED)

3=(UNASSIGNED)

4=(UNASSIGNED)

5=(UNASSIGNED)

6=(UNASSIGNED)

7=(UNASSIGNED)

8=(UNASSIGNED)

9=(UNASSIGNED)

[AudioOptions]

SoundDisabled=0

SFXDisabled=0

MusicDisabled=0

DialogDisabled=0

UseStereoSound=0

MusicSystemDisabled=0

SoundFXVolume=8.18178

DialogVolume=10

MusicVolume=8.57755

UseStereoSound=0 this tells the game to use whatever speakers windows has set (2.0, 5.1, etc), if set to 1 it will FORCE 2.0 sound. Sometimes FORCING the game to 2.0 sound will get audio to work and stop crackling etc in some cases

You don't need to do that in the .ini. You can set it in the Configurator.

Under the audio menu select forced sound in order to fix the sound.

Solution for Win 7 (x64): right click the speaker icon in the notification area and choose "volume control options" tick the "speaker"check box, then click "ok". Start the game and away you go =)

I just got off a chat with EA support. Their solution that worked is clearing your temp folders. I'm using Win7 64bit. I went to Start, type %temp% in the search, select the temp folder, once there select one of the folders, press Ctrl+A, and hit delete. Some of the folders I was't able to delete, skip thoses if you can't. Try the game, sound should work.

Please do not add comments of that type to threads as old as this one. If you solved your problem, that's fine, enjoy playing the game, and let the graves remain unmolested.

That comes off as quite ungrateful to someone who would post a fix to a thread such as this. I myself came to this thread looking for a solution to my problem. I found a fix from EA. I posted it here. Others in the future will likely have a problem like this in their game and come looking here.
Don't be rude to people who place fixes here. And beside that, it was 6 months since the last post. Not that long for a troubleshooting thread.

Graves are graves. It is too old to mess with.

You should stay out of the graveyard, and start a brand new, original, personal post all your own in such a situation.
