People cuss because they aren't smart enough to find another word.

Or because they see no need to use one word over another.

No matter what happens, cussing is NOT necessary.

This is true, it isn't absolutely necessary. It is preference.

As I've mentioned before, I personally can deal with it. On further contemplation, so can my dad, most likely. As also aforementioned, I suppose this thread more or less stems from the fear that by playing this game someone will think I myself curse. Not true, but I shouldn't care anyway. I'll deal; as Naltair mentioned, I think, there's plenty of content that doesn't have a stream of curses in it's wake. Avoiding Jack's my main concern, actually. Not too hard.

To clarify, as it seems some people aren't comprehending my intention, I merely meant for the option to be there, as someone mentioned, a toggle. I was curious to see if anyone else would particularly care. Frankly, I'm surprised as to the amount of responses; I didn't think people would care that much. I appreciate the input.

A lot of people were being undeservingly rude to you, in my opinion. I respect your family rules and their dislike for swearing, I just don't agree with having toggling or censorship in games, I see it as "either you take it, tolerant it, or don't purchase it" IMHO. :P

If I find something that I know has content that offends me, I either tolerate it or simpy don't watch/read/listen to it.

people who disagree with cursing came up with that notion you are throwing out, and i disagree with it completely.  cussing is a fantastic method of expressing oneself.

because every f***ing thing is f***ing more ***ing interesting and a motherf***ing S***load more classy if we would all just F***ing add some of that swearing S*** to our every-F***ing-day vocab.

...how bout, thats a load of bullS***

well yeah sure, if somebody does as lame a job of expressing themselves with curse words as you did.

Cultural retardation at its finest. The only people who find profanity offensive are mentally retarded and have no business sharing their opinions with others anyway.

Wow. I remember making a thread like this once a long time ago...The swearing ended up not being so bad. No, the bad part were all the people who insulted me for making the thread. That ended up being much worse. Like some of the people here, pretending to be "mature" by talking to the OP like he's retarded for having parents that prefer not to hear swear words. Lovely.

Exactly, you can respectfully and gracefully disagree with the OP people.

no. i'm sorry guy. but this type of crap is not appreciated here. if you know one thing about Bioware it should be that they are at the forefront of pushing the "repressive" boundaries of society in terms of video game development. you shouldn't expect civility when you post stuff like that around here, you should absolutely expect opposition. how is it that you don't understand that?

i stand by your right to post whatever you want, but "get real" if you expect to post garbage like this and want roses to spring up.

Yup not like it doesnt say this directly on the package. And what causes it to get this rating is listed plainly. If there's a problem with your parents overhearing, you probably shouldn't have purchased the game to begin with.

I love how it's called 'the f-bomb'. Like it's going to kill several people just by uttering it. Come on! It's a damn word. Just like cheese. And I don't like cheese.

But if they put it in as an option, I wouldn't go all fanboi on them and declare that they've lost perspective and threaten to kill myself and everyone disagreeing with me. I just wouldn't use that option.

the game is rated M bro, not the forums.
and REQUIRING swear words to show "opposition" clearly shows that your arguement is not backed up on logic but emotion, why else would we swear?
and in all honesty, if someone doesn't like someone elses opinion, they usually don't care about it, so it's all vain attempts of manipulation, not to mention trollfeed.

Bioware put a fraction of the amount of f-words that are normally used in almost every M-Rated game nowadays. Just how are they pushing the repressive boundaries of society in terms of video game development?

You know in many places women who speak are considered highly offensive. Yeah, just for speaking, they are the most offensive thing imaginable. There is absolutely no difference in how backwards and retarded that culturally force fed load of crap is. Swearing is offensive? To people who haven't evolved mentally beyond the 6th grade... Opps I mean "What is, people who haven't evolved mentally beyond the 6th grade, Alex."

You are absolutley correct contestant number 1...

I personally would prefer if BioWare continued to push on the boundaries of 'questionable' material in their games.  Profanity, Graphic Violence, Nudity, Sexuality, all of it.  None of these things are censored in real life.  If they can make the content fit in their story, I adamantly support its' inclusion.

I'm not talking blantantly pointless things like the old GTA3 hooker beatings and the like.  Not questionable material for the sake of it, but pushing the boundaries while having it fit within the narrative.  BioWare's done pretty well in this department so far... though the 'romance' scenes in ME2 were a giant step backwards from the ones in ME1 in this area.

Children are in the 6th grade. Are you still in the 6th grade? Is that the argument you want to be making? People that are still mentally eleven years old are the people who swear? Think about it....

I don't even know wth you're talking about. except your comment about:

"if someone doesn't like someone elses opinion, they usually don't care about it"

which is total bs. when someone doesn't like someone elses opinion on forums you see a war unfold. where and when were you born?

I don't even remember anyone other than Aria/Jack using naughty words. If they're gonna take on an M rating, we should at least get to hear renegade Shepard curse people out. Commander Shepard IS a jerk, after all.

Beyond sixth grade? I assumed you made a typo. Normally when someone matures past child hood, they realize they get less in life by swearing at people. Maybe less so on the internet, but still.

Joker repetitively uses the word S*** when he is walking through the Normandy before the final mission. whatever, guess it hurts some moronic parents feelings
