Why doesn't anyone seem to know my Shepard is biotic?

I think adept Shepard should have a dialog option: "I am a biotic god!"

Followed up by turning blue and saying "Fear me!" while poking someone in the chest.

From the rebuilding scene every Shepard gets installed with L5 implants, plus you'd have to anyway to pick Biotic powers as bonus powers. So it's not like any given Shepard wouldn't have a bit of juice.

Which reminds me, Shepard can learn Reave and Dominate. Those aren't telekinetic mass field manipulation powers by any stretch. Those are refinements of the asari melding physiology. Whether that's because Shepard is just that awesome (exposure to beacons, melding, the cipher), or it was just a case of "get cool powers from squadmates with no thought" I don't know.

My FemShep soldier has Reave as a bonus power because she had Warp as a bonus power last time around and Reave is the closest thing to it....

I definitely agree with this as a mainly adept player.

It bugs me that Shepard's biotics don't seem "canon" in that every other biotic character has an interesting backstory about how they became biotic, such as Jack with her Cerberus upbringing and Kaidan with his BAaT Camp stories. How did Shepard become biotic? When was (s)he exposed to element zero? It doesn't really make sense with some of Shepard's background options.

I'm pretty sure I saw a post on the old forums explaining the timeline of this.  I have no idea how to find it though since it doesn't seem to let you search farther back than a year.

Kaiden: "I ... killed a man with my biotics."

Shepard: "I know, Kaiden. I was standing right next to you when you did it."

Kaiden: "Oh, yeah. These L2 implants really mess with your head."

Shepard: "Obviously."

Oh, you mean like how my infiltrator is carrying an assault rifle in every single cutscene? Along with every single one of my crew? Yeah, those kind of inconsistincies are very annoying.

Hey, there are many instances where Soldier Shep pulls out an SMG that (s)he doesn't even carry, so everyone is confused.  Other than the Infiltrator/Vanguard, most people take the Assault Rifle anyway as it's an amazing all-purpose gun.

Or how my Soldiers seem to always default to their pistols (especially in ME1) when I prefer the Assault Rifle to every other weapon?

Shepard needs more identification as a player-character, that is, for the game to go "Oh, you're an Earthborn/Biotic/whatever." Imagine the conversation with Kaidan about his L2 implants when you were an Adapt/Vanguard/Sentinel. Couldn't we then have more to say to Kaidan/the doctor about what it means to have an implant/be a biotic? Ditto with the biotic scene with Samara/Morrinth, or any other skill based dialog/interupt. Couldn't biotic Shepard respond with a force push/pull? And why wouldn't they?

Origins?  ME should just be DA:O.  I think everything was done better: party interactions, loyalty, size of squad, the removal of the P/R system into a skill based one...

ME1 was especially bad in this aspect. Theres all this drama over Kaiden, but there is no back story at all about Shepard's experiences or even what type of implants he uses.

It annoyed me when I activated Grunt and he slammed me against the wall, and Shepard's retaliation is holding a gun to Grunt's stomach.

When in reality my Shepard would've blasted him against the wall with a biotic wave.

That one kinda makes sense since biotics have a warm-up period during which Grunt could have squished you. Of course given that Shepard can headbutt Krogan maybe he doesn't squish that easy? Anyway, it was a cute scene. Image IPB

or

Shepard: "What's an L2?"
Kaiden: "It's a sh*tty version of the L3, you know, like the implant you have."
Shepard: "Oh, yeah, right. I forgot. My L3 warranty must have expired."

Even a 'you're remarkably free of side effects' line would have been worthwhile.

I mainly play Adept, and yeah, I've also thought about this... I would have loved some party dialogue options about being a biotic, like when you talk to Jack and she threatens you with her uber biotic powers. Still, it's nothing that makes or brakes the game for me, but I definitely thought about it more in ME2 than ME1, after having played mage in DA:O.

Yeah, but I mean I wanted a biotic blast in place of the renegade gun interrupt! You and Grunt talk for a bit before it gets to that. But if my Shep threatened him it would be with biotics, not a gun.

Plus where did the gun come from, was she hiding it in her bra or something? Weird.

You gotta hand it to her though, the woman is resourceful.

The fact that you can't threaten Jack back *period* bothers me.  There's no option to be like 'yup, I don't have biotics, but I killed an entire squad of Asari commandos once, do don't go getting any ideas.'   The dialogue was trying too hard to make her seem scary and powerful - and she's not the main character.

Well there is some mention of Shepard using L3 implants. Kaiden mentions it (very) shortly.... and that´s about all you´ll hear about Shepards biotics.

As another person said, while talking to Kaiden about his L2 implants in ME1 he makes a mention of how the L3 implants I have don't have that issue.  I looked sideways at him, since my character is an infiltrator... I guess Shepard just had L3 installed as part of his/her genetic engineering for Saviour of Humanity.

It did make me blink in ME2 during the reconstruction thing when you are having the L5 implants put in, I was wondering if they skipped L4, or if Cerberus had the latest tech that the Alliance didn't... Two versions better! (Of course, Jack then went off and got L5x implants...)

The Assault rifle in ME1 bothered me a lot, especially since it was me, Tali and Liara waving them about.  However in ME2 I never noticed my FemShep pull one out the wrong weapon... she was just waving around pistols (or maybe the SMG... they're much of a muchness)  So I'd been thinking this was fixed... oops!

Biotic/Tech interrupts would be something nifty... Imagine the scene with Garrus where you're sighting down on the mechs, and instead of it being a sniper shot, you hacked one... Of course, you'd need to have the hack skill first... Ah well ^^;

(The lone infiltrator in my local circle. Everyone else plays Biotic Stomp Merchants)

In DA:O you can either send yourself into the fade or Morrigan depending on whether you are a mage or not so why couldn't they have put this feature in ME2? Also, if you're an infiltrator they should make reference to your sniping abilities such as on the Garrus recruiting mission or if you're an engineer make reference to your tech abilities in conversation. How hard is it to add a few class related dialogue options?

There defenetly should be quests and dialogue options exclusive for each class... for example, when that Irish technician "bores me with tech", if I'm a tech - my shepard should be able to not be bored with it. If I'm a soldier he should be like... umm... what? Same with other characters, Shepard should have more interactions with other technicians (Legion, Tali, Mordin) if he's one too (It bothered me in ME1 - when Tali describes the collective Geth inteligence Shepard is always like... "umm... I don't get it?"... if he's a god damn top rank Aliance tech specialist he should at lests get the basics shouldn't he?). If you are a biotic, why Shepard can't use them in paragon/renegade QTE cutscenes? In some cutscenes in ME2 even if you are a tech specialist and can only use pistols - Shepard is holding a rifle...

To try and kind of reconcile the potential biotic and non-biotic Shepards, I prefer to think that all variations of Shepard were exposed to dust-form eezo during the second publicized eezo incident in 2154, which would have been while Mrs. Shepard was still pregnant with her son/daughter. The dev team's timeline also states that Shepard was again exposed to element zero in 2168, at age 14, and fitted with L3 implants in 2171 at age 17, so that could be where the non-biotic Shepards split off from the biotic Shepards (if you get my meaning). 2171 was a year after the batarians attacked Mindoir and Shepard was rescued, so that could explain why his/her biotic talents were recognized so late in his/her childhood (of course, that only works if your Shepard is a Colonist).

Since my primary Shepard is a Colonist Vanguard, I wish more attention had been paid to his status as a biotic, as well. It seems strange to present the option to players and then not have any of the characters make much of a fuss about it. I get the impression that (stable) human biotics are still very rare.

Kaidin is the only one who ever notices.

But I was a little angry during the finale that Shepard couldn't be used for the Biotic barrier. (Though I suppose as mission commander, it makes sense that you'd want him directing the mission, and not straining and focused on keeping the Collector swarm out.)

It's always annoying to show Shepard threaten people with a gun, too.
It'd be nice to have things like:
Samara: You'll need to confront Samara unarmed.
Shepard: Though unarmed, with my biotics I'm hardly defenseless.

Or have him shoot a biotic bolt during a cut scene. (Always annoyed me on Virmire to have Shepard shoot at Saren with his pistol...why don't you just tear him apart with YOUR MIND?)

I don't think Adept Shep would have been strong enough to hold the barrier.

A biotic human vs. Morinth I'm thinking equals defenseless.

Unless Cerberus used some of the subject zero research data to give Shep a bit of a biotic boost while installing his cybernetics?
