During my first  playthrough everything was smooth and fine.

I installed RTO and replaying once again.  In this playthrough, the game is choppy especially during cutscene once I am in Ostigar..  The only difference between now and before is the RTO install.  I even went back to a previous saved game during the origin.  Everything priot to going to Ostagar is fine.

Has anyone experienced this?  Any help and/or ideas on how to resolve?

Thanks

I have seen more choppiness after installing the 1.02 patch and RtO, but I attribute that to 1.02 and not to RtO. You've not given enough objective detail for most folks to want to comment-,about things like CPU/OS/graphics/etc. If you look through other forum threads you'll see that folks like me who meet the "minimum" specs but are using (for example) NVidia 8x00 graphics on a dual-core 2.4GHz AMD processor have been whining for a while and 1.02 made things worse not better. Certain game events (like starting and then progressing through the Deep Roads) seem to also make things gradually worse.

I know it's hard to objectively state whether things are the same, worse, or better, but the idea that a previous save is fine before initial visit to Ostagar doesn't surprise me--things seem to get worse over time in most of my games.

If you'd like to supply more detail for comparison, I'd think responses from others would be more likely...

Thanks for responding, flagondotcom.

Fair enough.  Here my specs.

Computer - Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q706

Operating System:
---Windows Vista Ulitmate 64bit

Processor:
---IntelCore 2 Duo P8400

Memory:
---4gigs

Graphics:
---Dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS SLI, 2 gigs ram (for gaming)
---NVidia GeForce 9400M chipset (used in battery saver mode)

This is still a plain vanilla game with no mods, only the patch and all official add-ons.

I had the 1.02 patch installed during my first playthrough (with arcane warrior). I encountered no issues with all the graphics set at max. After I finished that playthrough, I installed RtO. The frame rate started crapping out as soon as my new character (another arcane warrior) got to Ostagar. I have tried quiting and restarting the game. I have also rebooted the computer. I have lowered graphics settings. Nothing works to fix the problem.

The problem is localized only at the Ostagar camp. The Kocari Wilds, the Tower of Ishal, Flemeth's hut and Lothering where I am now do not have problems.

Any Ideas?

Can't help unfortunately but have a similar issue. Last night downloaded and installed Patch 1.02 and RTO, and as soon as I started playing again, characters movement is very choppy and the game has crashed everytime I've entered combat, that may be linked to the fact I'm currently in Hlonleath on more DLC.

If you are still stuck, try this weird thing: disable the sound for Dragon Age Origins and try to play it and see what happens. I came across this tidbit of info websearching for this very issue, I have very choppy gameplay and my system doesn't suck.

I'm putting together a list of troubleshooting tips here that might be worth checking out. http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/2604940

There are so many variables with hardware that you pretty much need to go through and check everything that could be causing choppiness. I'd start with checking graphics card drivers, DirectX and audio settings.

Hope this helps.
