I have an army of Rachni.
I have a cure from the genophage.
Why does that sound awfully familar?

You forgot a ship with Reaper bits and pieces in it and implants of questionable origin.

Now this is the truth. I have a feeling in ME3 we will be in the same spot Saren was minus the indoctrination, that Sheperd will be declared rogue or something...full circle.

You know what......
Thats actually not a bad idea, I suppose a subplot in ME3 could have a spectre hunting Shepard while he tries to stop the Reapers. (just thinking out loud here)

Whoa. Holy crap, that just blew my mind! That's so true. It would make an interesting plot element for ME3. Saren was a great villain, even if he was indoctrinated by Sovereign. It would be awesome to see Saren, or at least his legacy/memory make an interesting splash in ME3.

No John, you are the Saren.

And then John was a Reaper.

Saren isn't laughing, he's probably smiling though. Because, while Shepard may be following in Saren's footsteps, the Commander is walking that road in defiance, and he is winning. Saren sought to quest for obedience, and only realized too late that fighting was still an option. Saren realized the error of his ways, and he's proud of Shepard, I think. Perhaps if you got Saren to "redeem" himself, his spirit will be invoked by turian priests to grant peerless courage in the final battle.

Now THAT would destroy the series for me.

I feel the galaxy will end up seeing Shepard as the 'new' Saren, regardless of the fact that Shepard is not indoctrinated, at least to our knowledge. Considering that the SR2 has bits of Sovereign in her, it makes you question those implants, among other things.

I both love and hate that theory, to be honest.

Edit: Truth be told, there are times I'd like nothing more than to storm the Citadel myself just to get at a certain Turian Councilor...

HEAR HEAR!!!

I've been saying for a while that I think Shepard is going to have no way of avoiding some kind of war with the council.

Think about it...in bullet points...:

- Wrex, Shepards great friend, is reuniting the Krogan
- If that doesn't work, you have a cure for the genophage!
- The Quarians have the largest known fleet in the galaxy. You showed them your daddybags when you went to Tali's trial hearing. You ALSO can convince them to avoid war with the geth.
- Ah, yes. The Geth. You realize they are in a civil war with each other, also that there is only one known "good" set of Geth in in the Traverse, looking for Shepard. You can also add to their ranks by rewriting more Geth. Who clearly are trying to seek you out for war against the heretic Geth as well as their gods, the Reapers.
- The Rachni. They're growing. The queen loves you. Remember when they were a problem for the council?
- Aria. You've clearly earned her respect (IMO) in ME2. Who knows if she'll command her ....forces (?) to help you out when you need it.
- Last. But not least. You have your crew, and your squad.

Now if you were renegade and didn't do any of this ****, then good luck in ME3.

Edit: I ultimately think you're going to come to a full on conflict with the Council as well as their races, with some probably joining you based off your status and your history, I also happen to believe the council is going to send every Spectre they have to go hunting your ass (if they aren't already).

Haha, even worse luck if you're a renegade that developed a conscience at the last second, and destroyed the collector tech.

Anyway, I'm kind of hoping that all of the data EDI recorded will be enough to convince the council, and that I get to work with one or two other Spectres throughout the game.

Probably. Ashley/Kaidan are the only two humans introduced before ME3 that are tough enough, and chances are that the council made more human Spectres after Shepard died.

Unfortunately, you're not in the same spot as Saren whether or not you have an army of Rachni, geth, and a cure for the genophage.

You don't have a kickass hoverboard and badass facepaint. Now, you might get those in Mass Effect 3, and THEN you'll need to be worried.

Awesome thread you guys!

I'm also hoping that Shepard can finally convince the council of the Reaper threat.

I somehow doubt Kaidan or Ashley would try to kill you, another Spectre maybe but Kaidan and Ashley know about the Reaper threat and now that you've abandoned Cerberus(Assuming you HAVE abandoned Cerberus.) then they have no reason to not join up with you, if they was asked by the Council or Alliance I can see them just ignoring and warning Shepard instead that there trying to send a Spectre to take him down. I also want that Spectre to be either:

Blasto the Hanar or Conrad Verner.
