The Illusive Man: "Good News Shepard, we've rebuilt Sovereign for you to lead the charge against the Reapers"

Shepard:  "Hey, that's great news! Let me just pack it full of my Krogan buddies, and I'll tell the Geth to follow me with their fleet! Now the Council will have to listen to us!"

I'd like to see that self righteous ****** "Ah yes, Reapers" his way out of that one.

I somehow doubt Kaidan or Ashley would try to kill you, another Spectre maybe but Kaidan and Ashley know about the Reaper threat and now that you've abandoned Cerberus(Assuming you HAVE abandoned Cerberus.) then they have no reason to not join up with you, if they was asked by the Council or Alliance I can see them just ignoring and warning Shepard instead that there trying to send a Spectre to take him down. I also want that Spectre to be either:

Blasto the Hanar or Conrad Verner.

Conrad: "Hey Shepard, the Council sent me to-"

Shepard (pulls out pistol): Which foot?

Only difference is Shepard's idea of saving the galaxy is, like one of my favorite engineers would say, to "give them a right good kick, right the daddybags" while Saren's idea of saving the galaxy was throwing up the white flag.

Yeah. I also see that the similarities end with the white flag. ;)

Edit: Finally some good threads today. ;)

wow this thread is becoming full of win, I love the idea of the Council viewing a Paragon Shepard as a possible new Saren. Bet we come into conflict with the Asari spectre mentioned I forget where. Hrmm what if our Shepard died? A clone maybe or if Shepard lives and happens to get on Cerberus's backside, who's to say tIM wouldn't send a cloned Shep after him. Would be kinda neat.

Nah, I don't buy that... For billions of years the Reapers were unstoppable and no civilization(s) managed to stop their return, and now you want one rouge Spectre to do the job on his/her own? So suppose that somebody's Shepard killed the Rachni Queen, destroyed everything that's connected with curing the genophage, wiped the heretic Geth AND destroyed the Collectors base, thus losing the support of Cerberus... and then we start ME3 with your scenario - Shepard is considered to be Saren 2.0 and is left totally an utterly alone (half of his/her crew left to take care of some benign personal stuff like looking for some lost long relative or simply got bored by saving the galaxy and decided to help Liara hunt the Shadow Broker instead). He/She faces thousands of Reapers alone and asks them nicely to 'please stop the conquest, I really don't want to die...' I guess the Reaper could die of laughter, because they didn't know they were capable of it, and forgot to 'breathe'... :|

I think ME3 will be more like DA:O - you have to gather the support of different species and governments, and unite the whole Galaxy against the threat of the Reapers. The main difference being that you (like it or not) were unknowingly doing it since ME1, so you can end up without the support of some of the species (like Rachni for e.g.). Could be that (wild speculation) Shepard will die if he/she decided to kill/anger all of those 'fractions' from ME1 and ME2. But that's just my opinion...

Well there is a difference besides the fact that Shepard still has the collectors/reapers pissed off at him. He also has all the major Merc groups after him, as well as most of the council space.

There is something else that we forgot to mention we also have pissed off the shadow broker just like Saren. I think someone should go through and log all the things that Saren did that Shepard has (or could have done by choices). It is very interesting to think about.

OK... This is a long shot. The Council is not on your side, but TIM isn't either. At least in my game we didn't separate on friendly terms. Even Miranda abandoned him. So, you don't have backup anymore. The only backup I can think of would be... drum roll... the Shadow Broker. He or his organization must be filthy rich and have access to information nobody else has. He would be the only one able to supply Shepard with the resources he need and he would have a simple reason to do so: Self interest. If the reapers win then he loses his business. I don't think I have a playthrough in which I helped him, though. Hmmm.

We have a Ship.

We have a crew.

What the hell more resources do we need?

Intel? "Um EDI, can you hack x database and find out where y is?"

Credits? WOO MORE N7 MISSONS WHERE SHIELDS ARE DOWN

Advice on who to recruit? Ship's damn near full anyway.

Ehum.

I blew up the Geth heretic station. It is much easier warmongering the Quarians to attack the Geth and retake their homeworld. with Geth and Quarians weakend humanity's take on galaxy supremacy is strengthened.

I did 'ye old genocide on the Rachni in ME1... They're an obvious obstruction in the way of humanity rule of the galaxy.

I told the Professor to shutdown the cure for genophage and that he did the right thing. Again, it would seriously mess up galaxy balance if there were an explosion in Krogan numbers.

I purposely killed the Council to get rid of them, and as an added bonus a Turian fleet was annihilated at the battle of the Citadel.

We all knowhe that even if the Reapers come barging in in the thousands the general (Citadel/Council) opinion will still be 'Reapers? Well we don't really believe in them...' and in the end it will be up to Shepard to solo the Reaper army somehow. Might aswell clear the way for human supreme rule of the galaxy once they're dealt with...

:D

WOAH!!! Thats crazy, I never realised it until now... the similarities between Shepard and Saren. Especially the fact that Saren claimed to be doing the right thing... It DOES make you wonder. You're working for Cerberus "for the greater good". You can claim that while it may not be savory, it IS the right thing to do... People are starting to turn their back on you, just like they did on Saren. Perhaps, in ME3, saving the Collector Facility and giving it to Cerberus is your "Eden Prime" ? Resulting in you becoming a hunted man...

Paragon Interrupt: Wait, all this happened because I pulled you away from the Beacon on Eden Prime! You were there! You know they're real! *Kaiden/Ashley joins the squad*

Renegade Interrupt: Wait, all this happened because I pulled you away from the Beacon on Eden Prime! If you hadn't gone near it none of this would have happened. This is all your fault. *Kaiden/Ashley is overcome by Councillogic and kills themself*

I didn't really notice the similarities between Paragon Shepard and Saren until after I finished my first Mass Effect 2 play through. Here I was enjoying the cuteness of Shepard and Garrus cuddled up on the bed when it hit me.

"Well hell, I'm well on my way to being the next Saren. Dammit."

I do think it's possible and would be an interesting way for the story to progress in the final game. It makes me think that two possible endings should be Paragon getting screwed. Save the galaxy in such a way that the galactic community never knows, and no proof can ever be given. Thus Paragon Shepard is seen as the 'villain' at the end; incarcerated or killed in some form or another.

Yet Renegade Shepard, who has done everything to secure human dominance across the galaxy stops the Reaper threat after the destruction of several alien homeworlds. The galaxy now believes, and watch in awe as humanity destroys them. Now the galaxy is bound by human law and might. Shepard is seen as a hero for stopping the Reapers, and humanity rules, aided by Reaper technology.

Of course, I also want a happy ending for my Paragon. Heh.

I've been saying for awhile that the only chance to actually take on the reapers is to have one on your side. There's too much of a technology gap for the organic races to really have a chance against those things, but if there were one on our side, we could use their own technology against them.

We'd definitely seem like the bad guy to a lot of people, but I mean "Look guys. This is a reaper. It's big and scary and there's more of them coming, we need to fight." Would probably eventually win even the council over. (But not before they try to kill us some.)

Having a reaper as our ship for the next game would be too epic and would be too interesting to pass up.

Also those Cannons on the Normandy are pretty kick ass and you only have one lot imaging fitting an entire fleet out with those, you could do some serious damage

Also the game needs enemies for ME3. Collectors and Geth are all but out of the picture at this point. You can't really make a whole game of fighting reapers. Obviously it is going to be full of killing council races/spectres. Woooo bring on the 'reapers.'

Honestly, if they proclaim me rogue, they have a big problem. Saren was nothing, had only the Reapers/geth. I have united alot of people and even convinced the Quarians to wait out with their fleet.

Let them come,I will fight in the SHADE.

Now this is the truth. I have a feeling in ME3 we will be in the same spot Saren was minus the indoctrination, that Sheperd will be declared rogue or something...full circle.

They'll probably send their newly introduced spectre, Blasto, the first Hanar spectre. First assignment: go after our best spectre who has gone rogue, Commander Shepard.
Repeat of the first game, different characters, roles switched.

Do I get to build a top-secret research facility on a planet where Microsoft gets their screensavers from?
