1) She was loyal, and stood by Shep when others could have but chose not to. (Not including Wrex here, he obviously could not.)
2) Love her personality, always have.
3) The other female LI's in ME 2 seem to break down into variations of "You're hot, I'm hot, let's get it on" while Tali clearly had feelings for Shep for a while, and the way she stumbles around trying to tell Shep is adorable.
4) Love her accent.

THIS APPLIES TO ALL CHARACTERS IN GAME MALE OR FEMALE
Except for Ashley. I hate her.
There is no reason, combat love just happens in Bioware games. At least she has a personality, I remember when playing KOTOR Carth wanted to jump my bones for no apparent reason. Awkwardness abound

Some of it, from a psychological standpoint, is certainly a projection by certain people of traits they would desire in a significant other that they do not have. But really, considering video game tends to be the realm of geeks in general, do you really want to use that argument?
I know plenty of people that play this game that adore Tali as a character that have girlfriends. My girlfriend thinks Tali is adorable, though she plays a fem shep when she plays.
Maybe, just maybe, it is a well written character, and on top of that is one of the few carry overs from ME 1. And that is why people like her.

Tali = the new Aries. In other words, the vulnerable, quite girl that nerds idolize instead of the eyecandy.
I can't work out if you mean Aerie or Aerith, but either way I think you're pretty much wrong. Aerie was too wet, and whined all the time. Aerith was actually quite outspoken and anything but quiet & vulnerable.
Tali gets things done herself, and always speaks up if something's on her mind. She's only a bit bashful when it comes to romance, which is understandable given her situation.

So...does that mean we're going to see Tali die in ME3 at the hands of a resurrected Saren, only to have her save the galaxy from beyond the grave?

Yeah and in KOTOR 2 after answering all those questions his character is trying to find Revan for no apparent reason either.
I just wished that KOTOR 2 was finished and I could have imported Revan to destroy/scare the crap out of him so he would just leave me alone

I'm assuming he didn't mean Aerith. Especially since, Tali is much more like Tifa romantically.
I'm also assuming he didn't mean the god of War, Ares. Who's anything but quiet, vulnerable, or female.

Well my last forum post was an epic fail. Yes i'll admit my mistakes and not try to be and "Internet Toughguy". I just want to know why she is loved so much.
Mostly because she has always been loyal to Shepard. She also is very friendly, emapthetic, honorable, and in the case of her trial she was willing to take exile over destroying her father reputation. In the end she is the most untouched from the events from the first ME-ME2 that is not to say she has not grown as character, she has grown in her better points. Others from the first ME have either gotten worse or hardned by there experiences where Tali has become less naive but has not allowed her experiences to change her in a adverse way.

See I thought he was talking about a God. Which would have been far more appropriate to some people on these boards I think

Me too. Now that I think of it, one of my favorite game romances next to Tali's.
