Why didnt the Devs think hey lets keep the medi gel heal thing so our players wont always have to sit down during a sort of flow breaking bleed out?
Put some Medi Gel on that and call me in the morning

There's not enough medigel in the universe. ME2 is a much faster paced combat experience. It's tough to remember ANY fight where I didn't take health damage at least a couple of times, especially on the higher difficulty settings.
ME2s system was more fun, imo.

And I always found it to be kind of silly running through enemy fire like I was Superman, pumping Medi-Gel into my arm all the way.

Real question:
Why the hell can't the squad use Medigel on Shepard. Republic Commando had this. It was great.

The medigel systems are built directly into the armor now. Its why you heal when you aren't being hit. Check the codex.
