I came into this thread thinking I'd dislike the ideas. However, I actually... like them. A lot. Good job.

When you read his theories too much you start believe in this.

A very well thought out theory, Zulu. I think it's extremely plausible.

You know, Zulu, I dont agree with a lot of what you say, but I must say that this is very, very, good and I would love it if Bioware implemented your ideas (specifically regarding the trial and facial reconstruction to avoid detection).

Except for your "severing all contact with your squaddies and LI's. That I would not like.

I like the facial reconstruction to avoid detection, though it wouldn't make much sense if you just kept shepard the same [default shep] (which I'm sure most people would do)

But I thought the whole point of ME2 was character building so that the last chapter could be focused on story. (ME2's main plot line was pretty simple) It wouldn't make sense to just throw them out the window. It will definitely be difficult to come up with a way to support everybody's ME2 playthrough, seeing as there's all the different possibilities, but if Bioware didn't want to do it, I think they would have come up with some other, simpler plot for ME2.

I like the idea for the most part. I actually had an idea like that, but since I am pro getting the squad back, i had an idea more like being in the middle of the trial and all of a sudden, explosions shake the courtroom, and in comes your ever loyal squad, functioning like a well oiled machine in eleminating your captors and throwing you a gun so you could join in the merriment. *sigh* i wish for what could have been. anywhom, i really dont want changing the character's face to be a big deal. Id like for them to go the route of ME1 and have you fill out the details on a wanted poster or something.

Yeah they could do a scene where the ones hired to bring Shep in get a data pad that shows his/her face this is where the player customizes or keeps the face they have.

I like how you're saying the stuff about facial reconstruction and the general premise of your ideas. However, I totally disagree that ME3 should be a different game, and that all the current squad members need to go. That would be downgrading ME2's purpose and would definitely put a huge dent in the fan base. As like me, many people love ME2 for the characters.

Necroing this thread because, based on the end of Arrival, it looks like Zulu_DFA called it. In ME3, Shepard will stand trial for his actions. Congratulations

i seriously doubt that Shepard will actually go to jail. Maybe during the trial the reapers invade or something, but i doubt BioWare will put Shep in prison at the start of the game. Tbf, i actually doubt
that the trial would occur in ME3 at all (as Shepard says he would turn himself in after the reaper threat is eradicated (i play as a amle btw)).

Won't lie, first thing I thought of was this thread after Arrival.

I really thought Hackett was going to arrest Shepard personally in the end of "Arrival", but for all I hear it can be played pre- "suicide mission"...

Haven't played it myself yet, so, thanks for the acclaim, guys, but I can't tell what I think of it all myself yet.

Yep. This thread was the first thing I thought of too.

I faceplamed - stared into my coffee and thought " We'll never hear the bloody end of this..." :D

Seriously though, it looks like you were not far off the mark.

From the sounds of it, Shepard is going to willing go to Earth and face the music. When you willingly go for something, you don't usually end up escaping from that same something, for which reason I do not expect Shepard to be an escaped convict, but rather I expect the Alliance/Council to free her of all charges for one reason or another, though that would still mean the batarians won't just let it go.

Everything is possible. Paragon will go to Earth to prevent a war, but he/she doesn't have time for sitting in jail for years and would try to leave possible prison.

Renegades willing to go to Earth. Well, its' not what I would like to see. Renegades think that nobody has right to judge them and will kill everyone who disagrees with that.

Now that I think about it: I actually can't see a Renegade Shepard accepting the trial...

No facial reconstruction regarding an identity swap. Shepard's face should just be bruised horribly from having Batarians beating him or her senseless in prison.

I’m not a fan of Cerberus AT ALL, but it would be a dire mistake if renegade and pro-Cerberus Shep’s decisions were hand waved and s/he willingly goes to trial no matter what.

I’m not a fan of the facial reconstruction to hide Shep’s identity either. I worked hard on my Shep’s appearance. It took me several playthroughs to get her just right. A simple prison processing cinematic could do the trick.

^Ooh I like that idea. Shepard is shown from the waist down, electronic cuffs (much like an omni-tool) on their hands, and then turned in front of a futuristic camera for his prison photo. Snap/Scan! Character Creation screen!

I can just picture the breakout scene. The paragon choice should be, "I was convicted in a duly appointed court and will serve my sentence." Cue cutscene where Shepard dies and the Reapers wipe out all life in the galaxy.

Also, I am not one of those who feels paragon has to equal stupid. This scenario just popped into my head, and I felt I had to share.
