So i was highly indecisive when I was starting out with the different houses for king quests.
I ended up tellin both of them I really meant to infiltrate the other house so i could get them information.
Now they both are asking me to find out what the other house wants me to do for them and neither of them will give me a task untill the other one gives me a task...ie neither one is giving tasks.
I"ve comepleted every other quest apart from the smuggling lyrium sidequest so I'm not sure what to do. I just finished fully exploring the deep roads as well.
Anyone else having or had similar issues or actually pulled through this dilemma?

there should be a dialog where you can tell them what the other one is doing, then they will give you the next quest, telling the them wont effect you, they will simple ask you to do the quest for them insted of the other

For me it was a hard RP choice at first - neither seemed to be honourable or good, as I've chosen my first playthrough to be (Lawful Good, to use D&D alignments).
As I played, though, I worked out which was the scum and which the good guy - the lead in to the Branka chain was the most evident, really.

Orzammar seems to be a bit bugged...
First I had the same problem and had to start again and now Oghrem is gone and it seems I can't do the Branka Quest without him....
Seems I have to start Orzammar again *sigh*

Yeah I'm likely going to skip it and come back to it. I really need to stop playing bioware games during the first week...i ruined nwn 1 for me the same way
and no there is no dialogue option for either of them both of them have only the 1
"1. No I haven't spoken to them yet" I can't even talk past their representatives yet because I haven't earned either of their trust yet and they both want me to talk to the actual candidates before they will trust me to let me talk to their candidates.

My problem is that every time I tried to enter the provings my game crashed so I wandered around everywhere else including Dust Town, now I have done the proving and been given the quest to get rid of the bandits but i cant get a fingerbone anywhere (i ran into banditss in other areas before the proving and killed them or interacted with them), I also made Oghren mad and he won't talk to me. After wasting hours I seem to be totally stuck in the dwarven city... I honestly dont know whether to quit or move on to another area. I hate to restart since I really dont know exactly what I did to screw up.

I joined the Proving first (didn't fight in that moment). Later changed my mind and told those two nobles about the false deal and even later fought in the proving and won.
None of them talk to me now and Branka's husband is another no. So... totally screwed? Bugged somewhere? Do I need to use a Delorian to fix this mess? Damn, I'd have to repeat lots and lots of things.

Veracruz sounds like you are in the same boat i am in for the most part. I loaded a save from before I went to the mountains and went to Denerim instead, I hate to think of replaying all that dwarf stuff on this character but I guess I'm gonna have to at some point.

I finished Orz but the final quest never updated. I tried reloading and that didn't work either.
Its still active, but the game seems to be progressing so I hope its fine and I don't get to a point where I need to reload from that point. :-/

My experience is that trying to play both sides against the other for even a short amount of time leads to bugs. I was stuck too, but luckily I had a savegame set right before I talked to either noble. A pain in the butt, and I would have liked to get as much xp as possible before committing to one side other the other... but what can you do?

Huh. I finished orz quests and got the dwarves on my side but that may be because I sided with Harrowmont and ignored Behlen's side altogether. I also made sure to ****** off any/all of Behlen's followers. As for Oghren, I pissed him off too but he appeared and joined my party at the entrance to the dark road(or whatever it's called) when I got the quest to find Branka.

I played thinking that there should be some kind of code preventing a mess. That it'd not allow me to do something related to one of the sides once done something for the other... guess not. The only save I have that wouldn't involve repeating lots of things has my character having informed one of the nobles and being a participant for the Proving. Maybe I could stick to the Proving and see if I can continue but I don't know the effects of that in Branka's husband that supposedly wants me to obtain information from those dwarves. And one of them doesn't talk to my character in that savegame so...Lurid Jester wrote...

Playing another human noble (shield based instead of dual wielding, and discovering things I missed with my first character) while I find answer to this mess and/or courage to repeat the same content with the same character.
