im 98% sure sten took dog with him

coz in the game you can see how his relation to the dog grows

ATTENTION BIG SPOILER DONT READ FARTHER

..

...

...

...

...

...

...

if you let your warden die i.e. ultimate sacrifice and in the epilogue it reads what all the charakters do like ohgren gets children and becomes denerims new commander, leliana goes to the urn etc. it never actually says something about your dog ... so what happend to your dog if you did the sacrifice? thats why i think sten took dog with him no matter if you lived or died

Honestly, how hard would it be to let us keep our beloved Dog? Although it seems like they are taking away everything that the people "love" in the game.

EA made Bioware kill my dog...

EA made Bioware steal my sword, my shield, my armor, my helmet, my gloves and my boots.

OH. And one of my rings.

...

Hey.

I actually PAID for that stuff!!

All you needed was to say 'EA'

Do you guys really think that EA has that much control over the design of the game? All I've been hearing is that Bioware can never do wrong, and that it must automatically be EA's fault on the matter.

Also Dog is not a mutt, he is a Mabari purebred.:P

EA decides when a game is released I think. So whoever came up with the bright idea of releasing an expansion only 5 months agfter the original was released, is most probably EA.

I actually called him Mangy Beast in my latest playthrough in honour of Morrigan (but in a affectionate way of course B))

So the game gets released earlier then expected, but the lost of certain companions, like Dog, is a decision that Bioware made. EA shouldn't have all the blame because it gave Bioware a deadline.

Yea sure, but the loss of dog isn't a disaster. The ravaging of continuity is on the otherhand, which could have been avoided if Bioware had more time.

Besides, who cares about dog? The only thing you can do with him is either pet him or just leave him doing nothing except barking and ruining what would otherwise be a very romantic setup.

And who decided the budget?

Dog is not dead. He is now Ferelden's most famous and amazing Mabari. In some circles in Ferelden that makes Dog more famous than you! Dog is in high demand amongst breeders across Ferelden. Unfortunately he suffers something similar to the Grey Warden taint including a lowered fertility so they must stud him constantly. Anyone that wants Dog back is just being selfish! He's very busy!

Bioware could have been the one who placed the bid for the project with their business proposal which would include things like the budget and estimated time it will take to complete. If Bioware did not present a business proposal and EA was the one who came up with the idea of an expansion; Bioware would still have to present things like a SWOT analysis, an estimated budget, and timeline. It's more than likely we will never know what was planned and when because we don't have access to things like the Gantt chart for the project.

Weird thing is -- how on earth does cutting Dog save them any money? It's not like he has any additional dialogue to record.

Well we DO know they have dlcs/expansions planned for the next two years...I guess that would be their timeline..as for costs etc for budget, of course we'll never be privy to that information.

So who knows how far into that two years they have progressed thus far.   They were probably working on all this when they had that 6 month or so delay due to multi-platform or whatever, where the actual release was delayed for DA:O.

So..for all we know maybe there's a ton of progress accomplished already, things are already written in stone....

Dude wheres my dog???

It's not like it takes alot of trouble to put dog back into the game and it would bring a smile to many a gamers face to see your dog return and help mass murder some more darkspawn.

I'm really hoping that they did not kill off dog or anything like that, it would be terrible.

I suggest we start a protest or somtething like that XD

Bioware we demand our dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That will have as much effect as asking for any of the other things we want back..heh.

Probably a no is the best we'll get.

@Feraele The DLC estimate was probably part of the original proposal for DA:O, showing EA they will be making money even after the game has been released. Allowing Bioware to nudge EA to push forward with the DA:O project.
