Why did old favorite have to be

Yet was he a favorite for anyone, sure it was fun to hear his banter. Though I would considered Allister a more favoritere then him, even my own dog

I assume he was simply the logical choice for the setting. BW decided to place (most ?) parts of DA:A in dwarven dungeons / the deeps roads so I guess Oghren was a natural fit :/ .

you back in the old days.... when DA:O was out, people didn't like Morrigan or Zevran or even Leliana... but they didn't complain... they just left them in camp. might be an idea if you don't like ohgren. There are so many options in this expansion. That dont liking a characters and have to stick up with them is common. Besides if you don't liek a character that means they did a great job in making that character hated
And yet look at what's happening now. I can't comment on it since I only got DA:O in Jan, but if that is true then I wouldn't be too suprised if a bit before Awakening is released or a while after that Oghren suddenly becomes a fan favourite.

What I don't get are the people who say Sten and Oghren weren't good in combat. They were among my best damage dealers almost every game.

Anyone can say misleading. I like Orgeon or however you spell his name. He is a great guy, but he's not an old favorite. From what I read from the website he will be big news in the expansion. I'm sorry to those who think he is an old favorite before hand...
Yet was he a favorite for anyone, sure it was fun to hear his banter. Though I would considered Allister a more favoritere then him, even my own dog
I think you are taking 'old favorite' a bit too literally.

What clues did they give us since that DLC was released about an old companion returning? The only clue they gave us was that it was an old favorite. Leading many to assume that it was Morrgian or Leiana. Now if they said an Old comanion returning
Would have been different, sorry just waiting after weeks and months to figure out who the Old favorite is and to discover, he wasn't really a favorite. Least not with me, he said all the funny things at the right time but I gladly switched him from my Party to have, Shale...Morrgian...Leliana..Wynn

Ohgren was Bioware's "old returning favorite" ...as to why..well only they know for sure, but yeah its got to do with this upcoming expansion.
So perhaps they shouldn't have labelled him as "a old returning favorite"...because everyone has their own.
Sure .."some" like him.
I tolerate him.
Oh hello Ohgren...how are you today?
*belch*
Yes...yes thats why he's the "old returning favorite" doncha know?

-Alistair may be dead, dead drunk, or busy as king.
-Morrigan left, with or without the dark ritual.
-Wynne had a couple of chances to die. Otherwise, she's still at death's door.
-Shale is DLC, so wouldn't have even been in some people's games.
-Sten returned to the Qun.
-Zevran could have died when you met him, could have betrayed you to rejoin the crows, or could have left after defeating the crows.
I think the "old favorite" had to be either Oghren, Leliana, or Dog to make sense with the highest percentage of possible endings. If it had been Leliana, it would have opened another can of worms due to the romance angle. I can't think of a good reason not to bring Dog back, but I'm sure there would have been people unhappy with that too.
