AWWWW SNAP
That said these Oghren threads are getting old. Communities split roughly 50-50 on the guy. He's got haters he's got fans. He's an old favorite to some and not to others. Some say he's deep and more say he's shallow. Well for the latter group, heres a chance for him to be fleshed out as a character.

Him pimp-slaping an elf = automatic win.
How can anyone not love him?

Who and when was it decided Orgen was an old favorite. Sure his banter's are amusing at times. Though every companion has his shining moments. That doesn't make them an old favorite in my book. In my personal thought we kinda got stuck with the raw end of the deal.
That's like bringing back Sten and saying he's an old favorite. When really hes just stale. Now I don't hate on the new companion, however how much the expansion was promoted nearly like a sequal. Then to say it's him returning...also with No new Romances, and romances that don't carry on but put on hold
I find the entire thing confusing and very mush misleading. Why wouldn't Bioware wouldn't want to bring back in a real old favorite and rack in some cash is past me. I will still buy the expansion. I just think it's label on an Old Favorite is very misleading

Perhaps "favorite" did not mean player favorite but dev favorite. Or perhaps by favorite they meantJoshd21 wrote...
I stil claim the title Old Favorite is very misleading. At most, people have ranked Orgen and Sten in the same section as most popular. I recall they even did a Poll and Morrgian ranked in at top highest, with Allister at a weak second. I just would like to know

1.a. One that enjoys special favor or regard.and not
b. One that is trusted, indulged, or preferred above all others, especially by a superior: a favorite of the monarch.
If you want to **** about word choice at least know the damn definition. Some people did have a special regard for Oghren. Myself included. He has the most touching final words to say to you before going off to face the Archdemon. At least if you've helped him out. He had hidden depth and perhaps now in the expansion it won't be so hidden anymore.

People probably shouldn't get that worked up over the "old favorite" quote. It's simply a marketing euphemism.
Exactly. What were they supposed to market him as? Perhaps a "returning companion who is apparently hated by a large portion of the community"? That would sure sell plenty of games. <_<

And I'm sure Morrigan's story isn't told yet, and she'll be back later on.

It was probably all decided long ago..and in a faraway land (Edmonton) and more than likely prior to release...hehe
So if thats the case...I am thinking that probably anything we are currently talking about in the way of "getting lost things back"...won't happen because its already hard coded into the game..and we are SOL.
And YES that includes my Ultimate Sacrifice argument that has been going on for the last few days.
I guess we are stuck with written in stone..decisions by the Dev teams...and thats all there is to that.
Personally...If I find Awakening is not to my liking...I think that will be the end of it for me..time to move on..I guess.
I've put in almost 1000 hours..into this game...so yeah its not like I haven't spent the time.

Old favorite was probably decided right after they heard Steve Blum's performance as Oghren. Sorry, Oghaters, but he hit it out of the park.

Only in the same universe where Jar Jar is considered a better character than Luke, Han, Leia and Chewie.

Your opinion, my opinion is that Oggy had a boooring personal quest which was done in about 3 minutes or so, he was just another boring dual wield warrior like Sten. His jokes werent funny at all, his drunkness was just annoying. I really like bad-ass dwarfs. Remember Korgan Bloodaxe from Baldurs Gate II, now that was a mean blood thirsty fleshed out dwarf with great dialoge.
Morrigan cannot replace a sodding dwarf, but with 300% more story behind her, interesting background etc. I prefer her over Oggy anyday, heck even Leliana or Wynne.
Thats not my opinion alone, check out the poll at greywardens.com, from 2000 voters 827 people think Morrigan is the best companion.

My PCs are all female, so no romance. None of my PCs allowed the ritual. Therefore, there can't be a baby anywhere.
One of my PCs lied to her in regards to Flemeth being dead, the rest killed Flemeth. So here's another aspect of how things could turn out.
None of my PCs killed her, or turned her in as an apostate, but it's possible to do in-game.
She can also be asked to leave, iirc.
Personally, my least favorite was Wynne, and my most favorite was Zevran. Oghren was never my 'favorite', but I never disliked Oghren, and if/when I eventually get the exp I'll gladly have him tag along with my PC-girl.
