I've just finished reading the FAQ for Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening and I must say . . . I am terribly disappointed. No Zevran? He was my character's romantic interest and my favorite of all the companions . . . And the most I'll get to see of him is a lousy cameo? No thank you.

Oghren is my LEAST favorite off all the DAO characters. I can't STAND him. I would kill the disgusting little twit if I could, and HE'S the one that's going to be coming back to play a major role? God, how discouraging. It looks like Bioware is taking away many of the things I loved about Dragon Age. I mean, my character would be faithful to Zevran no matter what, but still, NO possible new romantic interests? Nothing? I don't give a damn if one of the new characters has an interest in another of the new characters. They're not MY character. It does nothing for MY immersion in the game. It sounds like my character will be stuck in an aloof, separate leader type position and I positively deplore that. With a passion. Why the hell did I so carefully consider my actions in DAO if they don't mean anything in the expansion? What's the point?

Why the Hell do you bother making an expansion, or a sequel, if they're not going to be continuations of the relationships and stories we the players have been building up from the very beginning? No, seriously, WTF?

Depending on how this expansion plays out, and on whether or the not the next one gives me back the elements of the game (old companions for one. ZEVRAN mainly) that made me WANT to replay it over and over, I may just quit. I'm just . . . not at all happy with how this Awakening THING (I refuse to give it the dignity of naming it as an expansion, given that it expands on nothing I care about. It may as well be a completely separate entity. In some warped alternate time-line) is sounding. I guess we'll see . . .

It's a shame, really. Dragon Age: Origins had such potential . . .

I know, that's what I've been asking....WTF Bioware??

Way too many people seem to be hung up on the "favorite" part of the description.  Did no one notice "old" was in there, too?  Why are we letting them off the hook on that one?

OMG BIOWARE YOU SAID OLD FAVORITE WYNNE IS CLEARLY OLDER THAN OGHREN U SUCK I AM BOYCOTTING!

I hope Alistair romance mention isn't restricted to Queen-Warden. All that work of hardening him and making him sleep with Morrigan, going to waste? C'mon!

I honestly don't think that what we like or dislike was taken into consideration in any way, shape or form.   That "old returning favorite" was predetermined..and implemented probably long before we were aware there was an expansion coming out.

Fera, you pretty much nailed it ^_^

The plot is actually the first part of a game's development, so sometime ago, when  bio mentioned that would have a expansion, they pretty much had the story decided, and i believe the "old favorite" decision was already made. Same reason as to why i don't post on the "support squad member for ME3" threads on the Mass effect forums. Mass Effect 3 is already on development, wich means the squad members are already decided, same as Dragon Age 2. :D

I will quote myself from page 2 so people can read what i think :innocent:

Okay just to recap, we are not saying OMG, you picked Orgon..now I will boycott Bioware so let's keep those internet meme's to yourself please. We are simply pointing out that they said Old Favorite returning. Now from Bioware polls itself when the game was released

Morrgian was the top most favorite with Allister. For months we had virtually nothing to clue in who the companion may be expect it was an Old Favorite, so we naturally started to assume etc. Then to discover the Old Companion isn't a favorite by most according to the Bioware polls

It is a bit misleading. To have orgeon in the expansion. I'd rather have a new companion to be honest, unlike Allister, or Morrgian I felt no big emotionally attachment toward's him. Sure I found his banter's amusing but then again at times I even like Sten

That doesn't mean he is a favorite. Now to discover when they said Old Favorite, they meant Bioware team Old Favorite..can I say..wha..you put old favorite but only the bioware team old favorite and not the fans. Stop me, if I am not starting to make sense

It's just a little layer of sadness, to top it off romances won't be there in the expansion because we will be too busy. Hello,..umm were we not busy when we did fight against the Blight. We're we not busy raising four seperate armys and solving everyone's problem

We had to defeat an arch demon with an entire army of horde yet we found time to do alot of things. I think it's meant to say romances take more depth and complex to add so they rather removed it and say focusing on the new threat, rather then just say it's too much work

All evidence points to this analysis.  Still want to express my hopes for things.  The devsdo listen, since they put a couple Thane fangirls in the game:D

It's okay you are not trying to be rude. However if I can say the name and you can assume who I am talking about. Why do I need to spell correctly? this reminds me in warcraft where everyone had to spell everything correctly or be attacked for it.

If you simply can not read what I'm writing, just skip it with all due respect

Point one : As stated already by a DEV, old favorite doesn't mean YOUR favorite OR anyone's favorite. There is no such thing as Everyone's favorite. But it's enough for just one person to think a character is his/her favorite to make this character an old favorite. Just one.

Point two : I know how you feel about romances, and I won't argue that. But my point here is that we don't know yet the game. We don't know the story, for all we know it could be much different then Origins in terms of who's more busy. After all, we face foes on higher level, so my guess is that the boss of the expansion will be hugely stronger than mr. Arch D.

That's what I did when I found out Tali was returning. She was always a meh character, just like Oghren. So, she became a more permanent fixture in my squad for the last few runthroughs.

And now Oghren will be as well. His adorable personal mission makes up for his uncouth grossness.

I guess.

My party will def. be Anders, the tank, and either a second tank or Valena if she's useful enough. So, it doesn't really matter anyway. I'm over it.

I've only rented ME2 for 360 and have yet to beat it (plan on getting it for PC when I get my new vid card), but I thought Tali was a terrible character in ME, so boreing and bland despite how cool I thought her race was. In ME2 she is so much more damn intresting and kick ****. Same thing may apply to Oghren to those that don't like him, if they keep an open mind.

Very true. Keeping an open mind would have saved the old me forums a lot of b!*chy posts, no offense to some.

While still in Orrzamar (sp?) I couldn't stand Oghren.. However he grew on me once we were topside & got to talking & going on expeditions. Some of the things he would say to my other companions was priceless & he had me laughing my sodding ars off quite a few times. Especially with the "where can I get some sauce for that rump roast" & my guy would reply "oh go sleep it off Oghren" & he would say something like that is what I intend to do with you woman & then pass out! Sure he is a perv.. but come on he is a hoot!

I hope eventually all our companions are made returning characters.

They are all like family in a way.. ya know.

We said "an old favorite" - not "your favorite" or "the favorite". Some folks love him, some don't. That's the same of almost all of the companions in DA. He's really good in Awakening (but I'm an Oghren fan). If you don't like him, leave him by the curb and grab some of the other companions instead. :)

that's funny, why even use such a word favorite? everyone has a different favorite, in term every character can be the favorite of at least somebody, so why not just say one character returning and aoivd all these confusion?
