The game is pleasantly difficult. Demon's Soul is the next purchase. Maybe. Too many games lined up:

Funny you mention Demon's Souls, I just beat that game. But I'm not finding Dragon Age a hard game.. and I'm playing it on hard!

Yes, I've died a few times.. but no where NEAR as much as I died in the old Infinity Engine games (BG, Icewind Dale, etc). I may die once or twice in a harder than average fight, but in BG I remember pondering how to survive some fights for an hour because they were so hard... and I was playing on normal!

On the default settings for DA:O I do find myself at least trying, unlike KotOR. It's not as hard as I thought it would be though, what with everyone going on about the difficulty.

Having recently played through BG, I can tell you your memory is spot-on.  BG was significantly more difficult on normal than DA:O is so far (I also heard a lot about DA:O being difficult and erred on the normal side, but I'm thinking hard for any subsequent playthrough, especially if I apply the water-down-normal patch).

EDIT: I really want to play Demon's Souls.  Everything I've read/heard about it sounds amazing.

Demon's Souls is a PS3 exclusive action RPG, and it's known for it's insane difficulty. I beat the game last month, but to give you an idea of how hard it was, I died about 30 times in the FIRST LEVEL trying to figure out how to beat it.

It makes you think "outside the box" and teaches you to not just run in swinging your sword. Kinda like how Baldur's Gate did the first time you played it, just 10 times harder.

actually im finding demons souls EASIER then this game. mainly because im mutch better with the combat in that game. im good at hitting the buttons at the right time to dodge and such.



this game however im finding very difficult, as im no metagamer i develop my partys based on exactly how i want, sometimes ill be missing a healer for instance. and this particiular time through i destroyed my potion supply by killing a group of people just to experience that path of storyline.

so now i barely ever have any potions.
