Zero evidence of reciprocity. Shep still feels for Liara, 'cos from his emotional perspective the last two years haven't happened. Everything about Liara's demeanour and actions practically scream "I've moved on!".

YOu have to pretty much meta game Shep's feelings too. There's no indication of love, attraction, tenderness from him/her towards Liara. No hug interrupts here... The whole meeting between them has the air of a business negotiation. Shepard is going on a suicide mission, and s/he can't even tell Liara this? You know, "this might be the last time we see each other..."? The whole thing is so cold and uncaring. I seriously think the Kaidan/Ash anger outburst was 10 times better. At least there was some human emotion there, not two cold fishes discussing hacking and the Shadow Broker.

Agreed. My femshep romanced Liara in ME1, but even though there was no F/F romance option in ME2, Liara is officially dead to me. DEAD.

Like so many other plot points in this game, it all feels like setup for the next game. I can't say I'd be surprised if the ball were dropped, but it does seem entirely plausible that there will be a big blowout scene between love interests. Hell, that's basically the whole reason (for me) Shepard rebounded from Ash with Miranda -- there was no feeling in that encounter, just a distraction that I'm hoping leads to some interesting conflict in the next game.

How I felt about this as well.

Do people really think Liara can crush Shepard into a coffee cup? Seriously, if a fight broke out between the two, it will like... you know.. last 3 seconds. Trust me.. Liara is not the one that will win. I think people make this misconception that Biotics=win. If Shepard was such a push over he won't be the leader of the squad in both games, defeat Mechano-Saren, and survive the Suicide Mission (and leaving no one behind possiblely).
Great I am now arguing how Shepard would paste Liara... I am gonna curl up into a ball and go cry now....

Shepard is good, but you make it sound like Liara is a wimp... I doubt she'd be considered a threat by the shadow broker if she was so easily dispatched.

I apologise, did not realise how I downplayed Liara. Not my intention. My point was Shepard is good.. and in that league that makes even Reapers know him by name. Sad the Council can not acknowledge that. That Turian Counciler pisses me off.

True it was all in jest anyway, i doubt they do anything as crazy as that.

Kaidan would probably act more upset about his favorite panel in the mess hall being replaced by a kitchen. It would lead to awkward moments between him and Gardner.

He could always be tweaking and fiddling with Gardner instead.

In your opinion and your entitled to it, but my Shep sees that she got her thing she doing and he got her thing that he doing and after he done his thing he will go back to her.

Even though I got a couple of cheating shep's as well, I'll applaud them if the 'consequence' of cheating is a fairly tough one.

Edit: @Mox you may have to meta-game but I guess that just shows what a poor roleplayer you are if you require on-screen tools to choose what your character thought all the time.

I actually agree in part with that. Dev's do give a lot of leeway for role playing in certain events in-game, wether main or secondary in nature.

This element may also be why I did not hate Liara's presence as some did... Imagination has to be used in RPG's... else all you are doing is following the character's story, not your own.

Actually the bit I want to see is the conversation/confrontation between Kaidan and Thane. Imagine if you will:

Thane:

trance as he's unable to stop himself from describing the entire sexual

Well done. Made me laugh quite a bit but I could actually picture it happening in-game which made it even better.

If I don't cheat, I won't get that nice shiny medal in Achievements. I did it all for the shiny medal... It's the REAL love interest throughout the games...

Consider what happens if you romance Liara and Ashley/Kaidan. If you choose 'can't I have both?' Ashley/Kaidan leave and Liara goes 'thank you for choosing me, Shepard.' Yeah...that's a choice. Liara always seemed as deep as drop of water and just as satisfying. I am not trying to down on her for those that like her, but I don't think the writers cared about her as much as they did the other characters. At least the outrage from Ashley and Kaidan indicates a deep emotional angst over your current involvement with Cerberus and how they are trying to reconcile it with their personal mores.

No need to apologize...

You are right about that, indeed! I try to remain paragon always... but this time around, it was far less "unicorns pooping rainbows" and more like keeping your morals intact despite the adversity.  I had to keep my cool at some points to not go and insult/punch a lot of individuals... guess that's when you know bio made a good job... causing the player to feel hate or disgust towards secondary npc's is not easily achieved.

I guess I am more a blackwidow than most but you could do what I did and kill off your LI in both games then you are free for whatever BW throws our way in ME3.

Have any of you arrived at the suspicion that the LIs in ME2 that were imported (at least Ashley and Kaidan) are dopplegangers and not actually the characters they represent?  TIM suggests that the collectors are using your LIs to get to Shepard.  Is it possible that this is what is going on?  Remember that they were frozen on Horizon.  Some were left, but those that were are held in stasis for a long time.  Suddenly as the ship takes off after fire from the AA towers the LI comes round the corner to confront Shepard?

I dunno...seems a bit contrived to be simple coincidence.  I am thinking conspiracy!  Seriously, though...it is something that has crossed my mind, and I wonder if it could be...

Kaiden & Jacob would be interesting, what will they say, they are both pretty clam until you push their buttons, once you do that - KABOOM!

I do hope that the Devs will at last give up Cutscene use of our biotics for ONCE.

To deliver the equivalent of a biotic ****slap if the ME1 LI Dare levies a gun at Tali...

Or

'Liara, please. This isnt you. What happened to the sweet innocent girl back at the protean ruin, who i saved from all those geth? What happened to the woman who saw it right to help me fight her own mother, because she was too far gone."

Liara: "Sh-Shepard. I'm so sorry, i do-" Clunk!

Wrex: "Shepard."

"Wrex."

Shepherd, Liara, not really together? What?

Ok I guess this didn't happen for this person in their playthrough then huh?

As it did for my main ME Paragon Shep just recently.

Okay, I don't recall that scene with the picture, at all. Is that unlocked via editing on pc, or did I just totally not pay attention?

Irony is my Shepard went more Paragon. He was basically "Balance" in the first game. Big decisions and public (ie on camera) he went Paragon. Behind closed doors or with Exogeni "Bean Counters" Renegade. In ME2 he started even rougher, all of it was too much for him and they people treated him made him worst. But then.. he did 180. It was the loyalty mission, when saw each of his squad mates facing their inner demon he was drawn to do the right thing, the heroic thing more than ever. Only Tali's trial did he end with Renegade solution but that was because the Admiralty Board were dumbasses. Also Tali and Samara kept him in check. So by the end he was very Paragon. He was like the pillar of heroism in a world gone mad.

As for the LI, my Shepard felt betrayed by his ME1 LI. It wasn't long before he looked for the comfort of another.

Nope, basically if you remain faithful to your loved one, you get this scene instead of a romance scene when you go through the omega relay. Least I did and obviously the person whom recorded this video did as well.

I suppose you are right I never made that connection.  To be fair though I had left Ash with the bomb and that was more important than some space fling and how was I to know that Thane would die in the vent and that was an important job.  You would think with my history in both games everyone would just want to be friends with me.

The Liara we knew is dead. The new pod person babbling on and on about the Shadow Broker and her vendetta... That's not Liara. That's an imitation, and a poor one at that. Since Bioware has my Shepard react to this puzzling and distressing scene rather calmly and coldly, and doesn't allow any sort of meaningful attempt at getting through to her and attempting to ascertain if she still has feelings for my Shepard... In short, since there is no second act to the romance, I have to assume it's over. And that the "feeling" is mutual. Liara has her new "friend" and private vendetta to worry about, Shepard has the fate of all intelligent life in the galaxy to worry about. Different priorities, but it happens.

If the crazed pod person maniacally starts making lurid accusations against my Shepard in ME3, I will treat her like Conrad Verner, the "Biotic God", Manuel, or any other crazy/goofy person in the series. Posted Image
