The game has 3 single player campaigns representing each race but each only last an hour or so.

The multi player is almost non-existant due to the lack of dedicated servers and there is only support for up to 12 players.  The gameplay is about as bland and derivative as you can possibly imagine as the marine and the controls fot the Alien suck.
The predator is stronger than the other two races and makes the multiplayer unbalanced.

So yeah, anyways.  This game sucks, almost as bad as movie.  Don't waste your fifty dollars like I did.

What platform? I am a huge fan of AVP, but seeing the reviews and poorly coded demo, i will not be purchasing this game at all.

I was actually really excited about this game. But for the last month or so I've had a really bad feeling about it. You have just summed up pretty much everything I've heard and feared. Looks like its rental only.

Yeah that's why I'm waiting for the Colonial Marines to be released I think Fall maybe. I played AvP demo the other day, and the controls for the Marines are rough, plus the weapons dont really do much unless you're right up on someone. Took me 3 shotgun blasts pointblank backstepping to take a predator down.

I have the PC version.  Nothing wrong with the game's graphics technically.  The art direction is uninspired and the environments are drab looking but it runs well enough.
I doubt things are any better on the consoles.

Im just waiting for Aliens: Colonial marines now. I knew the single player was gonna be short but 1 hour each is pathetic! Glad i didnt pre-order it now. Thank's for the warning.

I quite enjoyed the Demo. From what I've seen it looks good and most of the reviews I've read have said its a fairly good game ranking at about the 70% - 80%. A bit worried about what you said about the campaigns though. Hope there a fairly decent length. The games not as awesome as Colonial Marines is going to be but it should be a fairly good fix until then.

The single player campaigns are extremely short and the story is non-existent. Out of the three, I think the Alien campaign is the least bad but only because the execution scenes are incredibly brutal and the best part of the game in my opinion.

It's deceptive, you'd think the game would have a lot to offer with three single player campaigns, but the three campaigns in that game combined are only about half the length of Half Life 2 Episode 1.

The enemy variety in the game is pathetic.  In the alien campaign, you fight only humans, synthetic humans and there are a total of just 3 predators in the game and you fight them all at once.

Hmmmm... Thats a little worrying :(

Its doing quite well in reviews though. But then so did MW2 and that sucks. Well, I'll rent first to see. Cheers for the insight.

This is a shame. The 1999 Alien VS Predator game was such fun. I remember how cool it was to climb up on the wall as an Alien and crawling above a human, counting the remaining seconds of his life as I prepare my inner mouth for a brain snack.

One hour campaign each? The 1999 game had at least a 6 hour campaign for each race.

I agree AVP sucks! Taking it back to gamestop. Its a shame that Rebellion can no longer make good games.

Agreed!  I had all sorts of fun with the first two AVP games.  The whole alien evolution thing in MP was incredibly entertaining as well.  Even though you ended up dead a ton of times before you could fully mature, simply jumping on people's faces was stupidly fun.  Then, if given the chance, running for my life as a chestburster was hilarious too.

The current AVP game, however... is really bad.  I had high hopes for it and was let down tremendously.  Graphics are poor, gameplay is poor...  Sounds are straight from the Alien and Predator franchises, so that was fine... however, the stuff they produced themselves wasn't.  As an example, the non-stop repetition of (poorly voice acted) phrases said by the humans really takes away from the game.  Oh, and wall-climbing as an alien is far too disorienting.  I wish they could've made aliens play in third-person.  There are times when you hop onto a wall and the camera re-orients weirdly, making you lose all sense of direction.

I don't want to shoot it down completely and utterly though.  To their credit, their first-person melee system has potential.  It has it's issues, but there's something great in the making there.  But overall... not worth the purchase.

Yeah.  Cool shooter from Shiny with a great sense of style and humor.  MDK 2 was great too.  Still have it for my old dreamcast.

I think ill just spend my money on heavy rain instead. The original AVP was fun, AVP2 was fun but seeing the harsh reviews from ign, game spot and other players i will not purchase this game.

Rebellion is no longer capable of making good games it seems(and they did make the horrible rogue warrior).

MDK 2 was a BioWare title too.  It's probably the only one I've never played.  Err... I never did their Sonic game either.
