This is a shame. The 1999 Alien VS Predator game was such fun. I remember how cool it was to climb up on the wall as an Alien and crawling above a human, counting the remaining seconds of his life as I prepare my inner mouth for a brain snack.
One hour campaign each? The 1999 game had at least a 6 hour campaign for each race.
Agreed! I had all sorts of fun with the first two AVP games. The whole alien evolution thing in MP was incredibly entertaining as well. Even though you ended up dead a ton of times before you could fully mature, simply jumping on people's faces was stupidly fun. Then, if given the chance, running for my life as a chestburster was hilarious too.
The current AVP game, however... is really bad. I had high hopes for it and was let down tremendously. Graphics are poor, gameplay is poor... Sounds are straight from the Alien and Predator franchises, so that was fine... however, the stuff they produced themselves wasn't. As an example, the non-stop repetition of (poorly voice acted) phrases said by the humans really takes away from the game. Oh, and wall-climbing as an alien is far too disorienting. I wish they could've made aliens play in third-person. There are times when you hop onto a wall and the camera re-orients weirdly, making you lose all sense of direction.
I don't want to shoot it down completely and utterly though. To their credit, their first-person melee system has potential. It has it's issues, but there's something great in the making there. But overall... not worth the purchase.
