I was thinking about the best armor configuration in the game. It's clear the DLC armors have their charm (I have the Collector Armor and Cerberus Assault armor) but are they superior to a fully upgraded N7 armor?

I have noticed that a N7 armor upgraded with the following componets seems  to offer a better protection:

Chest:          Aegis Vest ( Health +5%)
Shoulders: Asymmetric Defense Layer ( Health +5%)
Arms:          Heavy Damping Gauntlets ( Shields +5%)
Legs:          Life Support Webbing  (Health +10%)

If we add Shepard's health upgrades, Team's shields/armors/barriers upgrades the N7 armor seems to be superior to the other two.

Cerberus Assault Armor offers:
Heavy weapon ammo capacity +10%
Shields +10%
Health +10%

Collector Armor grants:
Regeneration rate +10%
Storm speed  +10%
Health by 20%

If you compare the health and shields values for the three armors you can see N7 appears superior.
The bonus effects provided by the two quoted DLC armors justifies their use insted of the apparently more protective N7 unpgraded armor?

TBH I have not noticed any significant difference, so I just stick with N7 armor, strength boosting pads, and no crappy stuff on my head :)

If you're playing pure defense, there is no question that the N7 armor can offer you more protection. However, the DLC armors all provide bonuses that are not obtainable with N7 armor because the pieces don't work out. None of the DLC armor has a combination that can be reached by N7 armor.

Right. Additionally, for classes that rely on powers Blood Dragon (+15% powers, 10% shields) seems to be the best option possible by a large margin

Thank You for your comments.

The intriguing feature of Cerberus Armor is the + 10% in heavy weapons ammo capavity.

The M-920 Cain heavy weapon requires 100% level of power to function. With all heavy weapons unpgrades I reach about 190 %. It's not enough to fire twice. The Cerberus Amor's bonus should give me two "rounds". I think this could help me in destroying the "human reaper" quicker.

^You could do that with the Ordnance Packs in your leg slot as well.

Blood Dragon Armor can't be matched for power damage, and Terminus Armor is the best protection you're going to get with the storm speed and ammo bonus. And plus, the DLC armor just looks cooler.

That's sure: the DLC armors look cooler.
Hwever if I use Ordnance Packs instead of the life suppoer webbing I lose the health bonus, thus the Cerberus Armor ahould give me better protection due to it's stronger shileds..

No, by the time Ordnance Packs open up you can perfectly imitate the Cerberus Assault Armor with N7 Armor. Should be 5% health on the head and shoulder and 5% shields on the chest and arm, but if you have the Dr. Pepper helmets you have another way to do it (switch head and chest, but I don't recommend it).
