But apparently there's this case of the choice of sqd leaders. Miranda or Jacob is a good choice. I personally used Jacob, maybe that's why nobody died.

Edit: I see you picked Miranda, was she not loyal?

Then you should avoid to add her to your team during the last missions, if you want to keep her alive.Mario Serrano wrote...
Garrus worked. I just ran through and hit all the buttons without shooting enemies. I think miranda might of not been loyal.

Kinda sucks if this is true that it depends on the 2nd squad leader if the tech specialist survives or not. The 2nd squad leader is doing nothing in this cutscene if i remember right. If they wanna punish the player for choosing a character who isn't fit for being the 2nd squad leader they should let one 2nd squad die instead of the tech specialist which was chosen correctly.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess everything has to be perfect then lol.

I think team members survival is not affected by "difficulty level" and I'm pretty sure it is not even affected by member's powers or weapons.Mario Serrano wrote...

I suppose the second team is responsible for aiding the tech expert and this explains why the two choices are connected. Just an opinion.

I thought it was because the second team leader was giving fire support when the tech expert is closing the door.
In my last playthrough i used Legion which didn't tried to close the door with pushing. He hacked all the time. Shepard was praising him "i knew i could count on you" and wasn't praising my 2nd squad leader.
Since i used thane on my first playthrough and the same squad leader on both playthroughs and thane died while trying to close the door while pushing it through it was clear for me that i made the wrong choice for a specialist.

Yeah, but while the tech was hacking the second team was at the doorway with Shepard's team, firing at the Collectors. If the second team wasn't being lead well enough, then they weren't providing enough fire support, so the tech gets a rocket to the face.
So how should the player know why the tech expert died? Because he chose the wrong tech expert or the wrong 2nd squad lead, since both lead to the same outcome ...

Well both those choices are pretty obvious, imo. Tali and legion are by far the best techs you have and Miranda is adamant you pick her. Choosing Garrus is slightly more esoteric, but his whole backstory is built around him being a squad leader.

Heres a list on what to do to get the best results
1. Do all the loyalty missions
2. Buy all the ship upgrades
3. Only do Legions loyalty mission after you pick him up if you want Kelly and the crew to survive. Get his mission BEFORE you go click on the galatic map.
4. Kill the eye thing and do the infilitrator and biotic things as fast as you can.
5. Choose Tali, Mordin or Legion for the Tech Specialist. Legion is most recommended.
6. Choose Miranda, Jacob or Garrus for the Leaders both times.
7. Choose Mordin or Thane as the person to bring everyone back
8. Choose Samara, Mornith or Jack for the biotic swarm part.
