And thanks guys :D

No problem. :D

My apologies, I don't know the path to the System Specs on Windows 7. I'm still on XP till I can get my new puder built.

Consider Password Protection. :) I dunno about W7, but on XP, ya can password protect your Screensaver so it takes a Password to exit Screensaver Mode. ;)

As punishment, perhaps consider making your Screensaver a Scrolling Marquee or similar with a anti 'IMMATURE brother' message that he can't mouse-wiggle off the screen since no Password for him!

Edit: Oh, almost forgot, ya can also go into the unauthorized message & 'Edit' the sentence out before a Moderator finds it. Sadly, they won't be able to tell who typed it, only what Profile did it. :(

Wow lol, I went to this site that analyzes my computer's specs then compares it to the requirements for a certain game (I chose mass effect) and all my specs are perfect for ti except my video drivers.

I have Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family. It says I need "Minimum: NVIDIA GeForce 6 series (6800 GT or better), ATI X1300 XT or better (X1550, X1600 Pro and HD2400 are below minimum system requirements)"

I'll try upgrading to one of these and see if it helps.

Feel free to share a link to said website that you found, Xero! :-)

Alas, the "affinity fix" did not work for me; shutdowns continue. I'm going to see about picking up another power supply this week, will follow up.

It's probably the website, can you run it. That's what it's called. Anyway, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in what they say. Intel graphics are terrible, and not supported, especially mobile versions.

Check the PSU 12V Rails's Amps amount. How many Amps do those 12V Rails provide? If it's less than 18 Amps, it's too weak to keep your Graphics Card powered, thus Power Loss may be making your Graphics Card choke on it's load. Also, different Graphics Cards have different 12V Rails Amps needs.

Very interesting point; looking at my current power supply, it provides exactly 18Amps on the 12V rails.  Any slight loss would result in a crash..

I've got a few new power supplies on a wish list at NewEgg within my price range, and all provide 60Amps to the 12V rail.

I was guessing it may not be perfectly reliable but it did give me my specs so I got a least something out of it haha.

Rev09,
Have you tried running in window mode?
It stopped my shutdown and restart problems.
Now I'm working on why I cannot run in full screen without shutdown.

Edit: Radeon HD4870 X2 graphics

Just a suggestion, but instead of buying new power supplies, and going through all these attempted fixes, did you ever consider making a dual boot system? I wanted Windows 7 64 bit on my computer too, but since I like to play games, I made sure I made a dual boot with Windows XP Pro. I don't think you'd have a problem with Dragon Age if you tried it under Windows XP. I've played for days and days, used all the DLC packs, and never once had it lock up or any problem what so ever.

I'm running an over clocked core two duo E6750 that normally runs at 2.66Ghz but mine is overclocked to 3.4Ghz, and a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS. Haven't ever had the first bug or glitch out of Dragon Age Origins, or Mass Effect 1. With Mass Effect 2, I will rarely have a problem with getting stuck in a wall or something like that, but if you do some coalesced.ini editing and bind a key to clip/fly you can get unstuck. Other than that rare little bug in Mass Effect 2, I have never had any of the three Bioware games lock up or shut down on me. BUT, that is while running in XP.  And I may play all day, pause it, go to sleep, go to work, and unpause it after work and continue playing.  So my games may run for days without ever having a problem.  I've used all the DLC packs for each, I've modded them, I've edited and cutomized them, and still they run rock solid.

WinXP is just a more mature gaming platform than Windows 7. Windows 7 will catch up, but if you want to play rather than troubleshoot, install a dual boot of XP and I bet your problems will go away.

Get the freeware version of Easeus Partition Master, make some room, create another partition, and do a dual boot system if you want to play games. Do a google search for "dual boot windows 7 and xp with windows 7 installed first" and you will find lots of places with step by step guides.

I've been contemplating installing some of these games in Win7 to see if they look better under DX10 instead of XP's DX9. Guess we will see if I run into the same problems as you guys. Good luck.

I have a Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family

Much appreciated ^_^

Thanks for the suggestions Bundy!

What's interesting is that I'd been running Win 7 on this machine for a few months and had nary an issue. I upgraded the motherboard and the graphics card, and began having shutdown issues when there were graphics-heavy apps running. It was fine before the upgrade, but it has caused issues since. I swapped out the HD 5770 with my old X1950XT and had the same issues, so it's something else.

I've ordered a new PS from NewEgg (800w) which should be here on Wednesday, I'll install and update.

I seriously doubt it, you don't even have a video card, you have the cheapest onboard video solution that is built into the motherboard.  You would probably have to buy a video card if you want to run games.  But that is just speculation, in the meantime, go to this site, it's really cool.

It's called Can You Run It, and it will let you choose a game, analyze your computer, and let you know what kind of gaming experience you would have.  cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/intro.aspx

Hmmm, so swapping out the cards showed it wasn't the new HD 5770 causing the problem, kinda makes me suspect the motherboard may be at fault.  Looking back at your previous posts, it does appear that the powersupply could be the problem, but the fact that you have a new motherboard thrown in the mix, makes the problem harder to diagnose.  Power Supplies are very important, and so many are sold with inflated specs, but you don't seem to have a cheapo powersupply.  I always go with Antec power supplies myself.  I'd just hate to see you fool around with the powersupply and run out of the time allowed for you to RMA the motherboard.  How much time do you have left?  And what powersupply did you order?

I'm trying to find in all my bookmarks, the best site I ever found for testing and putting powersupplies through their paces.  It was an awsome site, they had all the proper equipment to test and stress powersupplies.  Much more thourough than other sites.  Let me get back to you with that.

Yeah Bundy, I hear you, and was thinking the same thing; I should be just under the wire for a motherboard RMA should that be the case, but I'm seriously thinking that the issue is the power supply. Here's the one I bought:

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817182102

Not the biggest or the best, but I figured I'd take a chance on something not too expensive, modular, and with heavy amperage on a single 12v rail.

Oh, and here's the motherboard:

Thankyou Bundy ^w^

Well this sucks lol. I'll look at bestbuy or online for a new one in that case.

Any recommendations?

I have a Toshiba Satellite M505 laptop if that helps any.

Man, I hate to touch that question. Gaming notebooks can be expensive. Gaming takes a fast cpu, lots of ram, and mostly....a fast video card. It's the video that cripples most notebooks. Do a Google search for gaming notebooks, and you will see what I mean. There are some good ones out there, but they are expensive, get pretty warm and run through the batteries pretty fast. You have to make a lot of compromises to game on a notebook.

You can build an awesome gaming desktop for less than you can get a merely adequate gaming notebook.

Well my crashes where the result of my Nvidia display drivers, they been updated and not a single crash since. So try updating the display drivers and the DirectX and see if that helps.

Hardware issues are a little harder to deal with
