...This is kinda a half-joke, because I don't know how many people honestly care.  But did anyone playing a FemShep find themselves gawking at just how blatant she was at hitting on people?  I had my jaw on the floor and arms flailing trying to get Emily to stop sounding like such a **** when going after Jacob.

I mean no offense, I can understand if Bioware was attempting to fix the complaint of the legendary "Ninja Romances" from ME1 where a few friendly conversations ends up with Ash/Kaidan/Liara throwing themselves at you and being all "THERE'S A CONNECTION BETWEEN US, RIGHT?!"  But I can't see how two years being dead kicks FemShep's libido into overdrive, especially since she was recreated exactly as she was.

Now, my argument applies mostly to FemShep.  I don't know how bad Sheploo is with his romance lines, but then, being a guy I suppose it's comical to have him be a bit more forward than most.  But why oh why does FemShep have to have all the subtlety and grace of a charging steamroller.  With the exception of Thane (who gets an 'I want you' dialog choice that comes out COMPLETELY tame! WTF!) it feels like I'm playing a nympho!  I mean, she's bad enough that she tries (miserably) to be subtle with Garrus with "Easing tension" and moves right to "tiebreaker".  She might as well asked him to shag her against the console!

Totally agree. I HATED talking to Jacob. I kept screaming "I do not want to flirt with you!!!" It's like Bioware decided for us that we were all gonna jump everyone's bones, as much as possible. Ugh.

Yeah... she's about as subtle as a kick to the head, this time around.

From what you're saying it seems like FemShep is actually a lot more straightforward than MaleShep. Granted, I've only done the Tali romance, but not once does he say anything along the lines of "So, let's get it on, eh?" The closest thing is "I want to be with you." :P Though, the "Come here" line during their romance scene sounded kinda weird to me.

i don't like jacob too much and i feel like this has a lot to do with it. I did NOT want to romantically pursue him at all! and yet everytime Femshep starts a convo with him she gets all........all.........no, i just avoided jacob altogether. it's easily one of the worst things bioware did in ME2.

i don't mind my Femshep getting all "sexy", but i want to decide with whom and when.

Most of which was spent on an operating table!

...Of course, this Fridge Logic (why is FemShep such a ****?!) can be turned into Fridge Brilliance when you realize Kelly Chambers was assigned to the Normandy by TIM >_>

Yes it was cringe worthy. I wonder if Jennifer Hale was like "Do you really want me to read it like this, are you sure?" It was so over the top that I just had to ignore romances completely.

The only thing I can think of, is they wanted them all to sound so bad we'd back off and stay celibate so we can reunite with ME1 LI's in 3.

I find most romantic dialogue to be a little cringe-worthy, but I feel that way about such talk in real life as well. I also have not played a fem shep or seen any of dialogue, so perhaps I shouldn't be commenting on this, but...what's wrong with being direct, regardless of gender? She is meant to be a 29-31 year old, world-weary military commander, after all. Not a shy teenager blushing at a high school prom.

I think there should have been an option for femshep to just be friendly with Jacob.

BUT I absolutely loved the way she toyed with him and the way Hale did the voice, makes MaleShep come off as a real stiff. To me it was not so much being a **** or anything, just a display of female superiority, like a lion playing with her food. There´s also subtle things like body language with Thane that is far superior than MaleShep.

She leers at Jacob.

It's like a drunken cheerleader on prom night with half the subtlety. I'd hope my Shep has a bit more class than that. It showed no respect for Jacob or his position as her 3rd.

There were threads about FemShep not acting / sounding "feminine" enough on the old forums.

Perhaps wrecking FemShep's refreshingly professional soldier demeanor was Bioware's misguided attempt at catering to those interests?

Eh, well, maybe female Shepard IS a nympho? Who knows? After all, your roleplaying options are very limited in this game. Bioware has already made a lot of choices concerning Shepard. They could decide that female Shepard is a steaming nymphomaniac just as easily. :D

You're right...but there has to be some kind of middle ground.  I play a FemShep almost exclusively now ('cause it's the only way to romance Garrus~) and trust me, she doesn't even try being tactful or subtle, except with Thane.  I'm not saying she has to be overly shy...but she's only a step short of demanding that Jacob shag her on the armory console, it's that bad.

To be honest, I didn't feel any of the "romances" were romantic. The only one I found interesting was Samara, and that's because it creeps up on you (largely as no one seems to consider it romance). It felt natural and unforced. The triggers happened right at the end, allowing a slow, delicate build as opposed to shouting "HEY BABY" at the first opportunity to avoid the branchs of the dialogue tree devoid of romance.

You're a man/woman on a mission, if love happens it happens, but I found it utterly jarring for Shepard to act like an **** at a bar, It felt seperate from the plot, a distraction rather than a core element of your attachment to the crew.

Yay I say to a more subtle and complex romantic structure, and yes, dialogue that's a few levels above lecherous old man.

"I'd rather just talk for a while..." nudge nudge wink wink say no more. Femme-Shep really did come across as absolutely gagging for it, which is I think something of a mistake... things should warm up over time as opposed to jumping straight up to passion-furnace. I mean, Shep's been out of it for two years: how much has been concious? Not that much. So his/her relationships are just yesterday compared to everyone who survived the interim and moved on. Surely Shep should be a little more bereft at them passing them over? As it was, a lot of the dialogue (particularly for a Femme-Shep) came across like...

Jack: "You're not a couch person, Shepard."

Shepard: "Not true. I'm certainly a couch person. And a chair person, floor person, wall person, shower person, table person..."

I'm glad I'm not the only one who went 'Oh god, no.' It's just the way Jen Hale says that line to Jacob. It turned me right off talking to him as a FemShep. I've been playing a MaleShep (whose going after Tali) :D and so far even when he's talking to Maranda or Jack he don't come out with anying as cringe worthy.

I don't know if Garrus or Thane's roamnces are better for a FemShep. But no we're staying clear of Mr Talyor.

I agree with your rant. I support "better dialogue for Shepard in general" but the romance dialogues particularly need to be given close attention. I have to wonder what was going through the writers' minds when they came up with the lines.

"Man, we really have to write a romance between Shepard and a Drell/Turian?"

"I know what you mean dude. It's going to be like... super awkward."

"Hey, I know, let's just get through it by the end of the day, then we can head off for a beer, get drunk, and forget about it. And maybe if we make Shepard seem like a complete nympho-tease, fans will stop harassing us to write these odd inter-species love scenes!"

She comes on so strong that it takes Jacob 9 loyalty quests, 2 main story missions, and 12 hours of planet scanning to work up the guts to make his move.

No objective criteria exists, too subjective.

Well, except "wow, you look amazing" is more romantic than "is it in yet?"

This, it seems, is a problem with both male and female Shepard and all romantic interests though. Jack was telling me to 'F off if you're with Tali' before I knew I was even romancing her! Despite the fact I never had any intention of doing so or selected any lines that seemed remotely suggestive.
