I am not interested in better romance dialog support. Any romance dialog with Liara would be great..
I'm hoping Hale doesn't sleaze up any future Liara romance dialog. Liara would be like, 'What the hell, Shepard!'
Even Hale's 'ready for round two?' line she gives Liara in ME1 after the love scene didn't come off as 'sleazy'.
I don't think it's Hale's delivery. The WORDS, they are painful.

You're not getting emotionally involved, just scratching an itch, releasing tension before batte. I'm not saying I agree with it, just I can see that being a justification.

the Sh***y thing about that is, most of those "Femsheps voice is too raspy"-threads were full of people trying to trash Femshep. in other words, they had no interest in ever playing femshep regardless of what her voice sounded like.
I know. Some did claim that they had served in the military blah blah blah, and that professional female soldiers don't sound like that blah blah blah. Hell, I served in the military too, and saw nothing wrong with the ME1 FemShep. She was refreshingly professional and no nonsense.
But perhaps the devs did listen, unfortunately, and as a result directed Hale to "loosen up" and "relax", or something? Perhaps we should be glad FemShep's not wearing a catsuit and heels to battle like Miranda? Though there's still time for that too in ME3...
Yeah, I'm still curious what you're talking about.

I would totally be able to see that...if right before that I hadn't just made Shepard say, "I care about you, Miranda, and I think you care about me too." Now if I said that to a woman, the next thing on my mind would definitely not be "I'm just trying to get you into bed." I don't know. I just found it completely out of place, especially considering it was on a playthrough with no previous LI.Sialater wrote...

In some instances, yes. But the Jacob line 'I'm more interested in talking for a bit' is all in Hale's delivery.

Hale's reading of the line is fine in a certain context, that being if the player was romancing Jacob and several conversations in.
However in the context of just talking to the guy it's wrong and that's a problem with the direction/construction of the scene not Hale. I'm sure she gave many different readings of the line. She didn't choose which version to put in the game or what to use at a particular time, the directors/devs did.

Absolutely, it was probably a decision to structure it as they did. It's still cringe worthy for those that don't like it though and they will still blame Hale just as others like yourself like to blame Meer for his performance.WilliamShatner wrote...

Yeah....that is called teasing. She says she´s never thought about "love" and Shep says "Love? I´m just trying to get you into bed" to which she will say "You ass" ofcourse in a charming australian way.
It is not lessening the romance, but I dont like overall that romance have to be "love", not all of them.

Yes, Yes & Yes. I wanted to be "friends" with Jacob. unfortunately, i couldn't because this opening line made me want to hurk. so, i avoided him altogether.

I dunno, I tend to forgive actors a lot. The directors can screw up quite a bit.
Yes, like someone mentioned earlier, they might have told her to say that line like that. I'm actually sure of it. The director would have had to give her the context because the actual line itself is romantically neutral.
The Meer 'I just want to get you into bed' Miranda line isn't his or the director's fault. That was just a cheesy written line. This line wouldn't be so bad if it was the Renegade option, but it's the Paragon one and it gets you by surprise.

My issue was more with Male Shep's delivery. He always came across more as a molestor than a romantic. My opinion anyways. Especially when he is flirting with Kelly.
With Kelly if you have a pulse I will sleep with you Kelly?
You felt male Shepard was molesting her?
Kelly I flirt with my boss, and want to love everything that moves Kelly?
I felt she was molesting me.

That being said, I thought the romances were better in ME2 than in ME1. As I said before, Tali was very well done, but it was obvious that Tali was the Bioware choice. As has been mentioned in the forums previously, we like it better when we decide who we want to date. I was also not pleased about Ashley moving on. I understand that I was dead and out of action for two years, but if she really loved me wouldn’t she have come back to me? She just called me a traitor and split. Somehow, I don’t think the guys at Bioware get out much.
I believe that Bioware does not give too much emphasis on romance because it isn’t important to them. If you look at the main story arc, it is killer. With all of the attention placed on the main story arc and the male shep romance with Tali, everything else was just slapped together and now we are griping about it. If ME2 were just a shooter, no harm, no foul, but ME2 should primarily be an RPG and in an RPG romances are important. If the dialog is clunky it gets in the way of leaving reality behind and interferes with immersing yourself in the game.
My advice to Bioware is this: either take the romances seriously or take them out of the game. If you are going to keep them then for the love of God, do some serious writing to give us OPTIONS and a modicum of reality. Try the dialog out on real, live people and see how it works in the real world. Work in some flirting and timing like you did with Chambers. Give us a progression of feelings to a logical conclusion. That’s my .02 on the subject.

Well that's true too. But the animation of Shepards face and the lines he speaks just spoke creep to me. But point taken about Kelly.
