I have two important questions about Dragon Age Awakening on the PS3 in the EU region.

I much prefer to have a disced copy over download and I have just read on Joystiq that DAO:A will be download only for the PS3 in EU. Is this true? If so, Why?

And if it is True, is it possible for me to import a Character to an NTSC disced copy of the game?

Sorry if this is a really wierd question but I'm odd in that I prefer having a box on my shelf over a digital download. Also sorry if this has been asked already. I checked the Awakening board and the PS3 tech board.

Anyway, cheers.

Question 1-Yes its true and it is an EU-Sony law, dont ask me why.

Question 2-Sorry, no idea.

Yeah. I just read that SONY EU wont allow expansion/ DLC to be released digitaly and via dic. But that is BS. GTA Episodes are being released on both at the end of March! Hypocrites.

Does Bioware even look at the PS3 section? From what I have seen they tend to ignore there PS3 fanbase.

EA also tends to refer them to these forums anyway, ironic right.

for some reason, i feel like Bioware treat the PS3 fanbase like crap, 1st the almost cancel and asumed cancel Return to Ostagar and now this..... i'm not going to perform a download 20+ Gb from the internet.

Technically, it can but things can get complicated when you begin crossing the streams like that. Let me see if I can pull together a little info on options.

The PS3 is region free, so yes it works (I've imported quite a few PS3 games form the US) but you'll have to download Awakening from the US store or import the US disc version.

Hope that helps :D

I really think BioWare and EA need to work with Sony to come up with a solution that will enable PS3 users to get a disc. This isn't just DLC it's a full expansion and railroading us into accepting it as DLC only is really unfair to the consumer for numerous reasons.

I'm not even sure about the whole "Sony's rules" argument because Rockstar are releasing the DLC for GTAIV on disc format as well as DLC. Victor, could you possibly look into this as well please?

my worry is:

a) Cost, I've lookeed at the GAME version of the X-Box Version, which is 30 pounds, so i'm guessing it will be around 30 for the download, so if i get a 50 pound online card then that should be ok, but alot of money to put on an account.

B) Time and Space: How much will this download take up? If Bioware are right in this is a 15 hour game, how long will that take me to download? And how much space will it take up on my hardrive?

c) Slightly less important, but we don't get any bonuses by Downloading it, by pre-order or in shops, you can get offers like items, or other DLC's.

d) Agree with the above post, however it is nice to see more comunication between the PS3 Users, and Bioware now :)

I wonder if my SG version of DAO will work with an Awakening Expansion disc bought in Australia when its released.  The Return to Ostagar and Warden's Keep DLC will not work with my SG disc if the downloads are done via the Australian PS Network.

So far it seems as though $11.45 has been wasted since I downloaded Warden's Keep this morning via my aussie psn account.  Sony support sent me an email telling me I needed to buy the aussie version of the game and to top it off I cannot use my aussie credit card on the Singapore site!

I wonder how much money these guys are gonna make from people downloading the incorrect version or moving countries and not being able to use their discs within their new regions.

Sony and EA need to get together and work this situation out if they really care for their customers.

on the other hand, having a digital copy makes the game load from HDD which increases load time and overall preformance...

I'm hoping Bioware will just release a disc version of Awakening everywhere - but if they don't I'd like to know if the US Awakening disc will work with my Australian Pal version of Dragon Age and not muck up my saves. If it doesn't then I'll be able to play it.

thanks for that I'd import awakenings as well. I need to as I'm sure I couldn't d/l it with the crappy internet deal I have.

And thanks for looking into it for me Victor
Cheers one and all

That would be great Victor Wachter. I would love to be a owner of the retail if possible. As Im not sure i have disk space for a DLC as huge as Awakening.

This is f****** outrageous. First of from the looks of it the Xbox Disc version will be cheaper than the PSN download. Second i don't want to dedicate 50% of my hard drive space to one single game.

The third and maybe most important point is that i'd feel like the dumbest sheep alive if i'd support sony eu's politics of "customer a** f******". The RTO delay, the 1000 unfixed ps3 only bugs and now this bulls***.

So i'm gonna import the US Awakening Disc and play it with my imported char from DAO (Eu) or with a new one if thats not possible but i won't take crap like that from some idiot m***** f******.

Someone needs to get their finger out and make sure Awakenings gets released in the EU on disc format.

Like I said before, if Rockstar are doing it with GTA then I fail to see why BioWare/EA can't.

As much as I love BioWare's games I am really starting to see why people are complaining about PS3 owners getting treated as second class citizens – and it makes me feel sick!

Totally agree which is why I won't be downloading it straight away and will wait to see what happens and in the meantime will play FF instead when its released.

Hopefully it will be sorted out.

I guarantee you all this will take ages to download. And remember, sometimes downloads from the psn fail and you have to start all over again.

help@uk.playstation.com is the only email I could find. Starting to wonder if I'm better off either getting myself a X-box or go back to playing games on my PC as more and more ppl including those who work inside game shops keep telling me to trade in my ps3 for the x-box.

Yes, as if the folks inside game shops don't have agendas of their own, correct?

If someone suggested I trade in my PS3 for an XBox or a Wii, I would (kindly) tell them that I've done my research, purchased what I wanted, and that they can peddle their wares elsewhere. If they persisted, I would then blacklist their establishment and inform my family, friends and acquaintances of their practices, and to either avoid the place or go in aware of what the environment within is like.
