I received an email from Sony EU regarding not having Awakening on disc and they replied "The decision to release content on disc and on the PlayStation Store is made at the publishers discretion."

And got a phone number to contact EA if i wanted to complain about it.

I'm in the same boat as most other people..

From Australia.. bought the Australian disc version for Origins on ps3 and now am disgusted to find out that we can only download it here via the PSN..

I was considering importing the American copy (as ps3's are ALL) region free, but I don't know if it will stuff my saves up..

Bottom line. I won't download it because it's just a kick in the teeth to us ps3 users... I will instead, wait for someone who has imported an American version and let them tell me whether that version will work with an original Australian version of Origins.. B)

I’m in the same boat as most others here. For one reason or another I prefer having a copy of my game on the shell, and not taking up disc space.

Would be nice to get someone from Bioware to look into the subject, and ideally notice the developers that they should make it possible to import a Pal character on a US Awakening copy.

Dream scenario would be to get a hard copy in stores for Europe!

Anyway, I read something about SCEE having a rule that expansions that require a original copy can only be published through PSN.

Hmm..To be honest,I am sort of relieved to see some of you are in the same boat as I am..I mean no offense, but I've posted a similar thread of the same issue days ago,and yet I didn't get any responses.I though I'm the only who is disturbed by the region issue..lol

Anyways, mine is a Korean version,Region 3 product and I guess it is a pal disc...and I wonder if the expansion pack works with my disc....:(

I'm actually worried about the compatibility thing. Having a SG version, if I download this from Spain's PSN, put up with the space issue, the price, the DL speed... and then find out that it doesn't work with my game...

*shudder*

Oh come one BioWare, give us a solution  or at least acknowledge the situation – second class citizen PS3 users, I'm getting damn pissed off with this treatment!

Solution: Don't download "Crapping Customers in the face: Awakening" nor RTO and wait for a Game of the year Edition. I am a little angry i bought Wardens Keep when DAO was released but this alternative is surly better for my Wallet, my Hard Drive space and nerves.

Further on this was the last multi platform game i bought for the PS3. Xbox from now on, Sony has to feel the dissatisfaction of its former (?) customers.

Ps: Someone wanne buy a DAO PS3 uk copy. No scratches :)

OK Bioware. You're taking the ****** now! This threads been on here for weeks. I payed full price for this game same as all of the PC and 360 users and I expect to be treated just as well as those customers. If you were not going to support the PS3 version properly, you should not have released the game on the console. Simple as that! Now can we have an answer to our question please?!?

From what I know, if you try to "mix streams" you will get into trouble...

The DLC is region locked.

I know that Europe and Australia share DLC streams, so if you get one from there, perhaps the DLC will work.

I know that people who bought Asian copies and tried to use them in AU could not download any of the DLC products.

Considering this, I would be very careful trying to use different region disks...

I'd like to add a wee question to the mix, hope it hasn't been asked before...

Seeing as we're only getting Awakening as a download on PS3 in Europe, I want to make sure I at least get it ASAP!

As the release date for Awakening in EU is a Thursday, and Playstation store updates take place on Thursday, will we be getting the download on the exact release date, or a week later?

Thanks.

I'd like to know this too, although isn't the release date of the game 19th March?

Everybody's talking about Awakening and I can't even play it because it's download only for PS3 in Europe :( It shouldn't be this way.

Hah! If this could potentially corrupt a savegame, we'll have another final sacrifice on our hands! SONY IS THE NEW ARCHDEMON!!!!!

Of course, you could always back up your saves, but DON'T. It's more fun this way :D

Am I right to think thet DA:O from the US plays on the pal system? If so I think I'll import that and awakenings from the states and sell my copy I've already got, as I can't d/l awakenings

Technically, it can but things can get complicated when you begin crossing the streams like that. Let me see if I can pull together a little info on options.

And just like that victor bails on the ps3 community... AGAIN!

I've read both 18th and 19th on various sites.  I have the feeling we'll be waiting til the 25th to download it :(

It says the 19th but they also said RTO would be a Friday and that turned up on the Thursday store update. I would expect awakening to appear Thursday the 18th in the afternoon for the EU with the store update.

if its not online the 18th ill be so pissed... i bought the ps3 version because my pc was flipping, my pc is well fixed but i just played like 100+ hours on ps3 so i would prefer not having to buy the game on pc and lose all the hard work :(

that would be a bummer!

Someone needs to get their finger out and make sure Awakenings gets released in the EU on disc format.

Like I said before, if Rockstar are doing it with GTA then I fail to see why BioWare/EA can't.

As much as I love BioWare's games I am really starting to see why people are complaining about PS3 owners getting treated as second class citizens – and it makes me feel sick!

If you were aware of how Episodes worked you'll know the difference right away. Episodes sold as a stand alone disc did not require GTA4 to work. Awakenings is not the same. And the fact someone else did so and so doesn't seem to matter when it comes to Bioware/EA cause I got a crappy "this is not that company" answer when I asked why they could have the bonus disc on PS3 do dropdowns from the XMB like Batman:Arkham Asylum when that whole Soundtrack fiasco happened. Either way, I ended up with a full digital deluxe version from that ordeal so w/e.

Edit: Also, before I forgot. Episodes for GTA required GTA4 only if you got the digital versions.

i hope awakening gets released 2-3 weeks after the disc version and at a price of 30€+

I'm sure there are enough sheep who'd still buy it and feel good about it
