When will the Awakening DLC be available to us in UK??
If we use return to ostegar as a template for the release I reckon we will be seeing awakening in 2 or 3 months time after all sony's certification process apparently takes donkeys years to be completed.

i have a same problem to daoa not in cd for european users and i wrote a comment today to ea. here is my comment to ea: if all of the da users write a message i hope they will find a solution otherwise they lose customers.
Dear EA,SONY, BIOWARE, EDGE
IS DRAGON AGE ORIGINS AWAKENING WILL COME ON PAL CD FOR EUROPEAN USERS? LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SUBJECT IN FORUMS. AND IT MAKES THE CUSTOMERS SAD.
TOO MUCH SPACE FOR THE HDD, TOO MUCH TIME TO DOWNLOAD,EXPENSIVE THAN THE XBOX360 CD VERSION, AND PEOPLE WANT TO SEE THEIR GAMES ONTO THEIR SHELFS. I LIKE EA GAMES AND I AM COLLECTING AT THE SAME TIME BUT THIS MAKE THE CUSTOMERS MAKE REALLY UNHAPPY. YOU WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS WITH THIS STRATEGY.
I HOPE YOU WILL FIND A SOLUTION ASAP AND TAKING CARE OF THIS PROBLEM.

Has anyone confirmed whether an American copy of the game will allow for DA:O transfers from other countries' discs?

(or EU) version of the game will there be any compatibility problems if
I buy the physical format from the US?
I can't express how much I
prefer to have something tangible on my hands, but on the other hand I
also would really like to import my character from DA:O.
I know
PS3 is region free for GAMES, so I'm inclined to think that there won't
be problems.... we are too many on the same boat so it would be great if someone could confirm.

But yes.. an answer would be nice from anyone who's bought the game from overseas?

I've followed Bioware since BGII, and I've always considered them one of the "good guys" of the industry, but this kind of slackness towards forums and customers starts to remind more and more of Blizzard, Ubisoft....

I would not recommend mixing the PAL and NTSC disc formats. While yes the PS3 is region free, as it's been stated before this means that it will run both formats but not make them compatible with each other. The dlc should work though since the dlc builds are in a mixed format. So:
Mixing between discs - bad
Mixing between disc and dlc - should work.
Will this mean that it will always work seamlessly and never ever hitch? Probably not, but that's why these forums are here folks. If you do end up trying this out and it fails on you, post here and we will do what we can to help.

Yeah nice to hear that but... seriously dude, which of the 10000 issues and problems we PS3 users encounter with our DAO, DLC or Awakening has been resolved trough these forums?
The only mod posts i seem to stumble upon are kinda like this:
"we are aware of that and we are working on that" to bad we never see some results of this ongoing work.
No i wouldn't buy anything "Dragon Age" for a Ps3 atm. More "hitches" and my ps3 may implode.

I have every confident that BioWare will deliver a patch addressing some of the issues. After all it is in their interest to make a satisfied PS3 consumer base. There are lots of PS3s out there, and lots of gamers that love BioWare products.
Dragon Age is also the first BioWare release on the PS3. Mass effect 1 for Xbox had a lot of bugs too. Let’s hope they release a bug free Mass Effect trilogy for the PS3 later
It’s nice see Michael Lang responding. Thanks dude.
That said it doesn’t clarify the topic 100%. We need someone to test it!

If this is some alpha test for further products we shouldn't be paying 40 bucks for expansions

Hardly alpha testing
I have yet to buy Awakening. I want a disc in my hands, and until i get that I wont be buying Awakening. If it turns out that you can import Pal characters to NTSC Awakening then I will import it. It's cheaper to import it anyway
Still looking for a brave soul to import a NTSC Awakening disc. I know YOU are out there!

statement seems definitive to me, and I've got similar answers on others
forums, odds are PAL and NTSC won't be
savegame compatible although they should work on their own everywhere
around the globe.
I'm 100% positive Bioware will deliver to PS3
users too, they've always tried, thats why I said they are one of the
few "good guys" left on the industry along with Paradox, Bethesda...
Problem here seems to be that PS3 is a system pretty erm "hard" for
developers, there are bugs everywhere.
Well, I guess I'll grab the game from Hong Kong, as I have the UK game and both UK and Hong Kong use the special PAL-I. If anyone else has the UK game, try this yourselves, it may be the only solution to getting the physical format for PAL users.

Nice info. But i will definitely wait for the Game of the year edition. To many bugs, disappearing content and stuff atm. And yeah...i hope Bioware delivers but right now they are just like the abusive husband who beats ya and where you hope that deep inside he loves you and will make up for it...we will see.

Honk Kong may well be PAL for TV but for PS3 its SCE asia and therefore a different region just as America is a different region to the EU.
Any PS3 should play any PS3 game from anywhere but DLC is region locked now and I would doubt that any US/HK/JP DLC disk would work with an EU PS3.
There are two faults here.
First is Sony Europes stupid idea to not release a Disc version as well as DLC.
Second is EA's for setting a stupidly high price on the EU store.

As far as i remember GAMES are locked by publication territories namely PAL, NTSC and that other one for the french and russians, being this ones the regions, and not localization regions like DVDs and Blue-rays which are numbered. I'm not talking about TVs or Blue-rays, but games. What you are saying is that PS3 games are locked as the Blue-rays? Because I would bet they aren't.
And yes, Sony is, once again giving the shaft to europeans. Just one more stupid decision to the pile.
Edit: anyway, hong kong does have NTSC games, i've just confirmed with and ebay seller.

But Sony's region are
US is SCEA
EU is SCEE
Asia is SCEJ and others.
The PS3 will play all game discs, what does matter is that SCEA DLC is locked to the SCEA region and the same for SCEE/SCEJ etc. The store addons etc are region locked now so if you try and use the US store to download an addon for a EU game disc it won't work.
Resistance2 was one of the first to have this region lock put on DLC.
Last year Sony started putting the serial number of the game disc against the store download as some people where paying for content they couldn't use and kicked up a stink, this way people could check if the DLC would work with their copy of the game.
I have a US copy of resistance2 and can't get any DLC of the EU store to work with my version of the game. I would have to buy a US PSN card of ebay and use that for any DLC I wanted.
Now the issue has arisen with DAO and awakenings as the DLC in the US can be had on disc. cheaper than the EU store DLC.
The question is are the DLC discs the same as games and playable by all or are they locked by region as per store DLC, and will they interact with the save game/game data on an EU PS3. I think the latter bit is the important one as its the game data that holds the region info.
The awakening disc may very well load into the PS3 and install, but you need to load the EU version of DAO in order to play it and this is where the problems will arise I think.
BIO need to tell EA in europe to drop the price as I can't see Sony dropping there no DLC on two formats at the same time idea, stupid as it is.
If the Disc from the US is proven to work with an EU PS3 then I'll be importing, I just can't see it working correctly thats all.

Anyway as you say, key here continues to be if the disk Awakening will work with the Origins of countries which aren't getting it.
Something which we don't have tests for though we can take what Michael said as proof.. at least until someone does try it.

I myself am really averse buying PS3 DLC which comes at a higher price then the European xbox 360 disc version!!
